The pieces are useful as preludes, postludes, music at the offering, for introductions, and during distribution, as well as for those who play hymns at home. The durable wire binding ensures that each page lies flat against the music stand.

Insurrection is a bold, ominous and aggressively spirited musical juggernaut, full of energy from start to finish! Depicting the intensity and unsettled feel of sudden conflict, it begins with a powerfully introspective statement, and quickly shifts gears to a faster, eerier direction with colliding dissonances and staccato rhythms in the high woodwinds. A calmer emotional release follows, before the revolt against authority returns with the relentless and forceful energy of the opening. The dynamics, choppy woodwind flourishes, powerful low brass riffs, and frenzying percussion brings the idea of a rebellion to your next concert program. This a crisp and exciting concert opener or closer that makes even the youngest of players sound advanced beyond their abilities. Exciting music!

Intermezzo is one section of a three movement work. The entire work is entitled Prelude, Intermezzo and Passacaglia. The Intermezzo is a lighthearted movement cast in rondo form. The bouncy rondo theme is set against two contrasting themes. Prelude (WB98) and Passacaglia (WB89) are published separately by Kjos.

This arrangement uses the main themes of the second and third movements of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2. It opens with the haunting Adagio sostenuto. At measure 16, the third movement's rhapsodic main theme is introduced and developed. At measure 57, we return to the Adagio melody with the Moderato theme merging and dominating until measure 74 when the work closes with the initial theme. The Moderato theme is among the most beloved melodies of the 20th Century. Both themes in Rach 2 were featured in several movies. In first position for young people, this musical setting demonstrates the fluid relationship of 3 triplets against 2 eighth notes and the development of a long melodic line.

Composed for violinist Baird Dodge, James Matheson's SPIN is a three-movement study in various meanings of the word spin. I. Gyre has the character of a whimsically spinning object in a sort of arena. II. Web is essentially a slow movement. It explores a nearly static, sinewy texture comprised of slowly undulating chords in which snippets of melody emerge from the notes held while the chords disappear. Similar to the first movement, III. Spiral explores a kinetic notion of spinning, this time in the form of rapidly rising scales.SPIN was composed in early 1998. Each of the work’s three movements assumes the task of exploring a different meaning of the title. The first movement, Gyre (as in gyroscope), has the character of a whimsically spinning object in a sort of arena – spinning and bouncing off the walls (like a spinning penny, which bounces off of an object unpredictably and with somewhat explosive force). The primary musical idea consists of high harmonics in the violins set against a rocking pulse in the lower strings. This basic texture is explored in various guises as the movement progresses.Web is essentially a slow movement. It explores a nearly static, sinewy texture comprised of slowly undulating chords. Snippets of melody emerge from the notes held while the chords disappear. The music intensifies, leading to an expected climax (or anti-climax) of pizzicatos, before returning to the opening material and winding gently to a close.Like Gyre, the third movement, Spiral, explores a kinetic notion of spinning, this time in the form of rapidly rising scales. The formal idea of this movement, however, has the character of a spiral, with its tendency toward implosion.SPIN was written for violinist Baird Dodge.

This Working Day Mass is intended for Lent. The simple note-against-note harmonies display the boldness of Bruckner's early work (1843/44), which he developed during his years of study in Kronstorf.

Georg Kreisler equals scathing, dark black humour on the piano! The Singphoniker have arranged Georg Kreisler's best known songs for all-male ensemble and recorded them on CD. Schott now publishesthe corresponding music edition for men's choir TTBB with piano accompaniment (Georg Kreisler - Lieder und Chansons, ED 22735). In addition, all songs from the sheet music album are available in separate editions: Tauben vergiften im Park puts the relationship between dove and man in a nutshell and suggests a funnily described, yet ethically not correct method of taking action against the pigeon terror. This pleasant arrangement with Kreisler's humorous text most certainly creates an exuberant atmosphere in the concert.
