Orchestra (0.1.cor ang.0.B-clar.2 - 4.0.3.0 - timp.perc - hp - str) SKU: BR.PB-5583 Tuonelan joutsen - Urtext based on the Complete Edition Jean Sibelius Works (JSW). Composed by Jean Sibelius. Edited by Tuija Wicklund. Orchestra; stapled. Partitur-Bibliothek (Score Library). Symphonic poem; Suite; Early modern; Late-romantic. Full score. 24 pages. Duration 10'. Breitkopf and Haertel #PB 5583. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.PB-5583). ISBN 9790004213933. 10 x 12.5 inches. Little is known about the actual composition process of Lemminkainen and the performance and publication history is rather complex, resulting in a first complete printing of all the four movements en suite through the complete edition of Jean Sibelius Works only in 2013.In summer 1894 Sibelius went to Central Europe, carrying among others a plan for an opera freely based on the Kalevala in his mind. But during this trip he reassessed his composing: I think I have found my old self again, musically speaking. I think I really am a tone painter and a poet. As a result he abandoned his opera plans, but musical parts may have found their way into the Lemminkainen pieces which he started composing during that time. Definitely the overture had, it is now known and loved as The Swan of Tuonela. Lemminkainen became popular from the beginning and has attained a fixed position in the concert repertoire. $27.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Edited by Christian Martin Schmidt. Orchestra; Folder. Orchester-Bibliothek (Orchestral Library). Overture; Romantic. Set of parts. 50 pages. Duration 12'. Breitkopf and Haertel #OB 5505-30. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.OB-5505-30). ISBN 9790004337806. 10 x 12.5 inches. A visit to the opera whetted the composers creative appetite to explore the fairy-tale-like theme of Knight Raimunds love for the beautiful mermaid Melusine, which provided the basis for Mendelssohns fourth concert overture. As usual, Mendelssohn worked out the composition in his mind before committing it to paper, a task he most likely began towards the end of March 1833. The works premiere performance took place in London on 7 April 1834; the revised version was given its first account in Leipzig on 23 November 1835. Its ranking as No. 4 of the concert overtures was assigned around 1857 in a posthumous edition.(Ralf Wehner in the Study Edition of the Mendelssohn Work Catalogue). $65.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Published by Curwen (BT.MUSJC72199). English. Handel’s opera Tolomeo from 1728 was premiered at the King’s Theatre in London. Exactly two hundred years later, the celebrated art song composer Arthur Somervell adapted the tune of one of the arias, Non lo dirò col labbro, withEnglish words for the British drawing room. The theme of unrequited love remained intact, but the two composers’ handling of theme was naturally different. This arrangement has been created for two-part Voice, SA, withPianoaccompaniment that respects Handel’s original setting. More modern audiences may have become acquainted with the song from the 1990’s film Emma. $3.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
