This work brings fragments from three of Giuseppe Verdi’s operas together in a single composition. Opening the work is the Triumphal March from Aida. Next come two notable motifs from La forza del destino, before the famous Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore. Wil van der Beek’s arrangement for concert band is a rousing hit with opera melodies that everyone knows and loves.

In dit werk heeft Wil van der Beek een aantal beroemde fragmenten samengevoegd uit een drietal opera’s van deze Italiaanse componist. Hij start met de Triomfmars uit A da (maat 1-84). Daarna volgen een tweetal markante motieven uit La forza del destino (maat 85-140). Tenslotte weerklinkt het bekende Zigeunerkoor, ook wel Aambeeldkoor genoemd (maat 141-193) uit Il Trovatore. Verdi op zijn best!

In diesem Werk treffen Fragmente aus drei bekannten Opern von Giuseppe Verdi aufeinander. Den Auftakt macht der Triumphmarsch aus Aida. Danach folgen zwei markante Motive aus La forza del destino, bevor der berühmte Zigeunerchor aus Il trovatore erklingt. Wil van der Beeks Arrangement für Blasorchester ist ein stimmiges Wiederhören“ mit Opernmelodien, die jeder kennt und liebt.

Cette oeuvre rassemble trois fragments de trois célèbres opéras de Giuseppe Verdi. L’éclatante ouverture est donnée par la Marche triomphale extrait d’A da, suivie par deux motifs distincts de La force du destin, auxquels succèdent le célèbre refrain gitan du Trouvère. L’arrangement pour orchestre d’harmonie de Wil van der Beek est une scintillante reprise de cette incontournable musique d’opéra, connue et aimée de tous.

Questo brano raggruppa tre frammenti di altrettante celebri opere di Giuseppe Verdi. La spumeggiante apertura è assicurata dalla Marcia Trionfale estratta dall’Aida, seguita da due motivi distinti da La forza del destino che anticipa il celebre refrain del Coro dei Gitani da Il Trovatore. L’arrangiamento per banda di Wil van der Beek è una riuscita rivisitazione di questa intramontabile musica operistica, conosciuta e apprezzata da tutti.

Salute to a Hero opens with a brass fanfare, decorated by the woodwinds. After a short bridge passage the fanfare reappears, played by the full band. A central lyrical section brings a mood of calm and contrasts brass and woodwind sections before the fanfare returns bringing the work to a dramatic finish. Duration: 2:00 (Grade 4).

Voor dit feestelijke werk liet de componist Jan de Haan zich inspireren door het beroemde Te Deum van Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1634-1704). In dit arrangement laat de componist de registers van het orkest op unieke wijze metelkaar communiceren. Zijn “groet aan Europa” is direct en krachtig, maar met zachte, elegante en melodische passages. Een schitterend werk voor een vierstemmig variabele bezetting.

Zu diesem festlichen Werk ließ sich Jan de Haan vom berühmten Te Deum von Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1634 - 1704) inspirieren. In brillanten Passagen lässt er die Register des Blasorchesters in Dialoge treten. Sein Gruß an Europa“ ist direkt und kraftvoll mit zarten, eleganten melodischen Abschnitten. Ein spritziges Werk für eine vierstimmig variable Bläserbesetzung!

Pour composer cette œuvre festive, Jan de Haan s’est inspiré du Te Deum de Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1634-1704) et de l'Ode la Joie extraite de la Symphonie n° 9 de Beethoven (1770-1827). Les différents pupitres de l’orchestre conversent dans des passages brillants. Le style est direct et vigoureux, les passages mélodiques sont délicats et élégants.
