A Short Sonata is a work written at around Grade 8 standard for euphonium and piano. In each of the work's three movements, different qualities of the instrument are utilised and explored. In the first movement, an Allegro in 6/8 time, these qualities are the instrument's general agility, and its ability to play fast-moving melodies in a way that drives the music forward. Throughout, different ways of phrasing similar material are used to create interest and a varied sound. In the second, slow movement, the resonant and majestic way in which the euphonium can deliver lyrical melodic lines is explored. The movement is made up of four long phrases which peak dynamically at the third, giving room for interpretation and feeling. The third movement exploits the instrument's ability to play loudly and aggressively, using lots of accented notes, hairpin crescendos and quick double-tonguing. A Short Sonata was the winner of the first Stainer & Bell Award for Brass Composition, held at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff in May 2010.

Only a handful of Schreivogel’s compositions for his instrument have survived. Among them is this impressive and forward-looking three-movement sonata for violin and continuo in E minor, evidently composed in the mid-1710s, which betrays the influence of Venetian composers such as Vivaldi and Albinoni. Schreivogel writes very idiomatically for the violin, but never at the cost of musical eloquence and solidity of structure.

Composed using modified student-submitted melodic examples and ideas, this is a uniquely collaborative work evoking the darkness of the shadows we sometimes keep to ourselves. The piece ends optimistically, reminding us that shadows are small compared to the light around them. (3:45).

Etudes Electric was composed in response to a need for original electric guitar literature. Selections from this volume may be performed in an applied music jury or recital in a university guitar program. The etudes are motivically intertwined and make a complete composition when performed in order. The pieces can however be performed singly or in any combination. The pieces appear twice in this edition-once unedited in standard notation alone, and then fully edited in standard notation with rhythmic tablature.

Grasshoppers was written in 1956 during Mamlok’s studies at the Manhattan School. She balances a variety of moods, textures and tempi in six brief movemenm of a divertimento-like character that are thematically unified by the use of melodic fourths and scurrying chromatic figures. The second movement, Night Serenade, is a poignant siciliano, the fourth movement a bitonal Minuet, while the fifth movement, In the Army, is a humorous march. The third movement, In the Rain, is the most virtuosic of the set. Grasshoppers concludes with Hurrying Home, a rapid, often bitonal waltz. Marnlok orchestrared Grasshoppers in 1957. lts 1958 orchestral premiere, by Carl Bamberger and the Süddeutsches Rundfunkorchester, was one of the first important performances of her music. Recently I have again studied the poetry of Hermann Hesse, the most significant 'Maulbronnian'. His poems 'A Toccata from Bach' and 'Playing the Flute' inspired me to write the present piece. In 'Playing the Flute' he expressed his idea about the essence of music: It is 'time made aesthetically perceivable. And in the present, to be sure. And thus, once again, the identity of the moment and eternity come to mind.' The title of this piece is drawn from the last line of 'Playing the Flute.' (John Van Buren).
