In the south German-Austrian region the Pastoral Mass of Johann Baptist Schiedermayr was regarded as one of the most well-known and beloved works in this genre. Engaging melodies, passages in thirds and sixths, and typical pastoral motives, such as horn calls and open fifths, the latter a reminder of the bourdon of bagpipes or a hurdy-gurdy, characterize the movements of the Mass. Lyrical sections, such as the Et incarnatus est, which is the center of Shiedermayr's setting of the Ordinary, alternate with festive passages in which trumpets and timpani brilliantly express the festive joy of Christmas. Score available separately - see item CA.2706900.

Huron Carol ('Twas the Moon of Wintertime) is perhaps the oldest Canadian song. It was written ca. 1642 by Jean de Brebeuf, a Jesuit missionary at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. The original words were in Huron language, but Whittall uses the English translation from 1926. The song's melody is based on a traditional French folk song Une Jeune Pucelle. Whittall's arrangement is done for Audite choir in 2013. It is a skillful arrangement, bringing out the best qualities of the original melody.

The 7/8 rhythm (beginning on the second page) skips along in a light-hearted fashion symbolic of the dedicatee's spirit. The He will not slumber ostinato in the 4/4 section represents God's ongoing faithfulness through all. A well-crafted piano accompaniment energizes the whole, with text based on Psalm 121.

Christoph Willibald Gluck’s most popular opera “Orphe et Euridice†was performed in 1774 in Paris to sensational success. This new adaption followed the original Viennese version with Italian text that was first performed in 1762 under the direction of the composer in the Burgtheater. For the Paris version Gluck changed the leading part Orpheus from an alto to a tenor role and composed new recitatives. Both versions of Gluck’s reform drama are based on a libretto by Ranieri de’ Calzabigi and revolutionised metastasian opera of the 18th century. Solo and choral music, instrumental music, pantomime and dance are all closely connected; the myth replaces a historical plot surrounded by intrigue; where there would have been a da-capo aria there are now simple song forms and coloratura is largely abandoned. These meticulously revised vocal scores of both versions are also newly set.

The Credo belongs to that large group of church works which Vivaldi composed in Venice between 1713 and 1717 for the Ospedale della Pieta, then his primary place of employment. The composition, conceived solely for choir and strings, is characterized by a two-layered formal design: a continuous, basic motivic idea, i.e., a constant rhythmic impulse with rapid tone repetition builds an instrumental layer, while on the other hand the writing for choir renders the text in a blocklike structure in chordal declamation. This structure will only be abandoned briefly in the concluding section of work, where the text Et vitam venturi saeculi is embedded in a concise fugue. Score and part available separately - see item CA.4000400.

The parable of the unforgiving servant (Matthew 18:21‚35) inspired Ken to write this contemporary folk-style piece that calls us to pardon offenses and reflect God‚ presence. The verses make use of cantor and two-part women‚ choir and the refrain features SATB choir. The well-crafted oboe line gently soars over the minimal instrumentation.
