Vacillates between the major and minor modes. The prayer is set using a triplet figure which gives it a lilting quality. The editor suggests programming the Mi Chamocha with one of the Hashkiveinu editions followed by the V'shamru, thus following the Sabbath Eve order of service.Duration 1:30.

This stately collaboration by composer Mark Hayes and lyricist Terry York premiered at the 2019 National ACDA Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. It is a profoundly moving call for living in peace and harmony in all communities--locally, nationally, and internationally. An equally appropriate anthem for community, school, or church choirs, it is accessible and inspiring with piano only or with the optional brass quintet.

Johann Sebastian Bach's Magnificat BWV 243 was composed in its first form in E flat, right at the beginning of Bach's period in Leipzig, for the Visitation of Mary on 2.7.1723; for a further performance on the 1st day of Christmas, Bach added four extra Christmas movements following a Leipzig tradition. Only in the 1730s did Bach arrange the Magnificat in the well-known version in D; the orchestration was slightly altered, particularly improving the considerable practical performance problems encountered in the E flat major version. Our critical new edition contains the version of the Magnificat in D, based on Bach's autograph score. For Christmas performances the extra movements are available separately, transposed for performance with the D major version of the Magnificat (Carus 31.243/50). Score available separately - see item CA.3124300.

The text of this captivating piece for organ, SATB choir, and assembly was written in response to a call for new hymns on peace and justice. It progresses from Christ’s sacrifice, through our worship, to our call to offer faithful service to the poor, homeless, and the hungry. A beautifully written a cappella section leads seamlessly into an organ interlude before the return of the choir with added descant. The assembly part is optional.

Johann Ernst Eberlin was the foremost personality in the musical life of Salzburg before Mozart, who later respectfully praised the richness of ideas in Eberlin's compositions, a feature of this short, festively scored Mass. Its polyphonic texture and rhythmical verve give it an exciting character, which is heightened by its scoring with trumpets and timpani. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.9103300.

The Reverend Alan Gaunt, a minister of the United Reformed Church, is particularly known for his hymn texts We pray for peace and Lord Christ, we praise your sacrifice. This volume brings together his corpus of writing. He is strongly biblical in his approach and is prepared to look at Bible, faith and the contemporary world squarely, bringing them together in texts for use in worship. His work also includes some new translations from early texts intended for use by a new generation. Such new exposure to the original through a new translation can be salutary. The introduction is written by the Reverend Alan Luff.

The Mass Rorate coeli desuper may be one of Joseph Haydn's earliest works, but its attribution to Haydn is disputed. This short mass setting is based on the complete ordinary of the mass. Because of this it is suitable both for the so-called Rorate masses (which lack the Credo) as well as for Sunday masses during Advent (which lack the Gloria). The full score contains at the same time the organ part. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.4060200.

Charm me Asleep is a gentle, lilting piece with a beautiful melody and homophonic texture. This is one of a pair of works, along with Slow, Slow, Fresh Fount, written by Watkins for the Cardiff Polyphonic Choir on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; performed together or separately, they are excellent additions to the repertoire.
