Melodic contour and lightness of touch infuse Mozart's music with a divine character unmatched by any other composer. According to Dvorak Mozart is sunshine. Richard Strauss proclaimed Listen to the remarkable expansion of a Mozart melody. You think it's coming to an end, but it goes farther, ever farther. Alleluja from Exultate, Jubilate is perhaps the best-loved of all Mozart's motet melodies. Give your band the opportunity to experience Mozart's divine gift of melody with James Curnow's sensitive and accessible arrangement today! Charming!

Slavonica! was commissioned by the Bloomsbury Music Group for the Bloomsbury Woodwind Ensemble. The composer wanted to create a set of three modern 'Slavonic Dances', which are strongly influenced by Dvorak's famous examples: an opening dance, a 'sousedska', and alively 'skocna' accelerating to a whirlwind coda. These dances can be played either by a group with one player per part, or by a full concert band wind section.

In composing Puszta, Jan Van der Roost wrote folk dances related to Slavonic folk music. Its character and sounds are comparable to the Hungarian and Slavonic dances by Brahms and Dvorak and to the Hungarian Rhapsodies by Liszt. All the melodies, however, are newly composed, not adapted from existing dances.

The year 2004 marked the 100th anniversary ofthe death of Antonin Dvorák. In 1879 Dvorákwrote this Polonaise as a commission for thecommittee organising the festivities for theirfamous national dance festival. Many famousCzech composers wrote dances specially for thisevent. This Polonaise in three movements, with itsfine melody lines, deserves to be more than just anoccasional work, however. Wil van der Beek’sconcert band arrangement does justice to theoriginal piece.
