In a Persian Market was composed in 1920 by English composer Albert W. Ketèlby. It is a short tone poem that describes the hustle and bustle taking place at a busy, exotic Persian bazaar. Camel herders, beggars, a princess, jugglers, snake charmers and a myriad of others fill the musical scenes. The princess and her caravan eventually pass by and all is back to normal. Tohru Takahashi’s arrangement perfectly conveys the sights, sounds and smells of a Persian market.
In a Persian Market, vom Engländer Albert W. Ketèlby im Jahre 1920 komponiert, ist ein kurzes Tongedicht über das bunte Treiben auf einem exotischen persischen Basar. Kameltreiber, Bettler, eine Prinzessin, Jongleure und Schlangenbeschwörer füllen die Szenerie, bevor die Karawane der Prinzessin sich in Bewegung setzt und Ruhe einkehrt. Diese Transkription für Blasorchester von Tohru Takahashi wird dem Original voll und ganz gerecht.
