The two piano pieces were inspired by a statue which can be seen in the Egyptian Collection of the Louvre in Paris. The full-length portrait of the couple holding hands was carved in wood by the unknown master more than 4000 years ago (i.e. between 2350-2200, the time of the VIth dynasty's reign). We don't know who they are, where they come from, and we also don't know where they are going. All we see is that they belong together. And in Kurtag's music we can now also hear their quiet footsteps| Kurtag wrote the pieces in April-May 2013. The first piece is dedicated to pianist Menahem Pressler, celebrating his 90th birthday that year, the second piece (Double) to the French pianist-teacher, Valerie Haluk. The two pieces can be performed together or separately. This edition has been published for Gyorgy Kurtag's 90th birthday. (Tunde Szitha).

The opera “Naïs†was premiered on 22 April 1749 at the Acadmie royale in the Palais-Royal, Paris, in celebration of the signing of the so-called Treaty of Aachen. It was revived again in August 1764 shortly before Rameau’s death and achieved great success as the “opera of peace,†even though it did not appear in print during the composer’s lifetime. In numerous arias Rameau provides his singers ample opportunity to shine, while he reveals his orchestral mastery, in particular in the chaconne and the various other ballets. The work appears here for the first time in a vocal score with a keyboard reduction. The reduction is by François Saint-Yves on the basis of the new critical edition by Pascal Dencheau which is part of Opera Omnia Rameau edited by Sylvie Bouissou. This edition is the result of a meticulous comparison of all known musical sources. In the main section, it presents the version that Rameau approved for the performances of 1749. The appendix contains those passages that the composer cut during the rehearsals in 1749 and all changes that he undertook for the 1764 revival.

The circumstances of the origin of Sinfonia concertante in Eb major (KV 297 b) are disputed; it was probably created in Paris in April 1778 for four famous solo instrumentalists of the Mannheim Court Chapel. In his arrangement, Werner Egk included and extended the concertante aspect: In 1981, a few weeks before his death, he arranged the work for two oboes, clarinets, horns, bassoons each and double-bass so that now a solo quartet is opposed to a tutti quartet. For wind ensembles, this piece is a valuable addition to their repertoire, for Mozart lovers it is a charming view from an unfamiliar perspective.

Tarab premiered by David Grimal in le Volcan, Scene Nationale du Havre, on April 23rd 2010. Born in 1948 in Rome, Philippe Hersant studied music at the Paris Conservatory, notably in the composition class of Andre Jolivet, before residing at the Casa Velasquez from 1970 to 1972 and then at the Villa Medici from 1978 to 1980. Since 1973 he has been a producer for radio broadcasts with France Musiques . Refusing to play tricks with history, Philippe Hersant has forged a language that extends the course of Western music as a whole, and, without ever seeking to establish a school, he was one of the first of his generation to place himself, once more, in the domain of tonality and modality. He does not, for all that, banish all neo-classical tendencies. On the contrary, he champions the mannerism and the deep subjectivity of his memory as sources and guides to creation.
