Fanfare Band - Grade 3 SKU: BT.AMP-125-020 Composed by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Midway Series. Concert Piece. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2009. Anglo Music Press #AMP 125-020. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-125-020). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. In The Pioneers Philip Sparke salutes the bicentenary of an expedition by two all time American heroes - Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. They were commissioned by US President Thomas Jefferson to find the headwaters of the Missouri and a route to the Pacific following the Louisiana Purchase, which doubled the size of the USA. They set out as the ‘Corps of Discovery’ from Louisville, Kentucky, in May 1804 and not only did they succeed in reaching the Pacific through hostile territory, but also found their way back - in 3 years! The piece is not descriptive of the journey but gives the composer the opportunity to celebrate the 200th anniversary of this amazing feat. Add a touchof the wild-west to any concert with this exciting work.

The Ukrainian Bell Carol is part of a large choral work entitled Shchedryk by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Dmytrovich Leontovych (1877-1921). It was first performed by students of Kiev University in December 1916. The tune is an adaptation of an old ‘shchedrivka’, a song traditionally sung on Ukrainian New Year’s Eve (January 13th) which hopes for good fortune in the year to come. In Shchedryk, Leontovych added his own the lyrics which concern the legend claiming that when Jesus was born, all the bells on earth started ringing in his honour. The tune has since been the inspiration of at least four different Christmas carols, but Philip Sparke has sourced the originalUkrainian melody to create this stirring arrangement.

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 3 SKU: BT.AMP-134-140 Composed by Mykola Leotnovich. Arranged by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Midway Series. Concert Piece. Score Only. Composed 2005. 28 pages. Anglo Music Press #AMP 134-140. Published by Anglo Music Press (BT.AMP-134-140). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch.
$22.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Score. Composed 1969/2010. 26 pages. Duration 9'. Breitkopf and Haertel #EB 9268. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.EB-9268). ISBN 9790004185681. 12 x 9 inches. This piece originated as an introduction to instrumental musique-concrete. In this sort of piece it is common for sound phenomena to be so refined and organised that they are not so much the results of musical experiences as of their own acoustic attributes. Timbres, dynamics and so on arise not of their own volition but as components of a concrete situation characterised by texture, consistency, energy, resistance. This does not come from within but from a liberated compositional technique. At the same time it implies that our customary sharply-honed auditory habit is thwarted. Breeze in the Forest was commissioned for the concert to celebrate the 60th birthday of Professor Haruyuki Nakatsukasa of Osaka Kyoiku University. “Kanreki†is a special term used to celebrate reaching the age of 60 in Japan. The composer was inspired by some of Professor Nakatsukasa’s admirable characteristics upon composing this work: he speaks softly and at the same level as his students; he is fashionable, stylish and refined. The band accompaniment is at a moderate level of difficulty, allowing the solo flautist to choose this work for many an occasion.

Contemplation is the first movement from the Clarinet Concerto by Jan Van der Roost, which was commissioned by Musica Reservata VOF, Belgium, and is dedicated to the famous clarinet soloist Eddy Vanoosthuyse. A slightly mysterious intro leads to an orchestral climax with ascending melodies and the entrance of the soloist. This occurs at first with fragmentary musical ideas, and then with longer melodic lines. The orchestra delivers the dialogue withthe soloist, and creates a fitting musical frame with a delicate and colourful instrumentation. Towards the end of the music, the atmosphere from the beginning is restored, and the soloist finishes on the same note that he started the piece on. The concerto is also available as a piano reduction.

Brass Band - Grade 6 SKU: BT.DHP-1094715-130 Composed by Jan Van der Roost. Concert and Contest Collection CBHA. Concert Piece. Score Only. Composed 2009. 84 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1094715-130. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1094715-130). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. From Ancient Times is a major work for brass band, inspired largely by the music of the Franco-Flemish School of the Renaissance. Hints of Gregorian chant and middle age dances pay tribute to music from even earlier times. The foundation of this spectacular work rests on truly ‘ancient times’ while the tonal language is of a much more modern nature!
$70.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
