The German Dance No. 12 is the final work in a series Beethoven wrote in 1795. The dances predate his monumental symphonies and show a young Beethoven writing in his earlier Classical style. This arrangement retains the original key of C Major and includes much of the material from his extended coda section. It is a very approachable selection that works classical bowings and style, without too much technical difficulty. Optional 8va notes are given for advancing players.

Written in 1814, the Fidelio Overture was the fourth and final version chosen to open Beethoven's only opera by the same name. Though not as lengthy or grand as its three predecessors (the Leonore Overtures 1 - 3), it served its purpose as an opening statement without overshadowing the music to come. This string arrangement transposes the original key of E Major into the much more playable key of D Major. It retains the original opening which alternates between powerful majestic bursts and lyrical harmonic progressions while finishing with the energetic presto to the end. Rhythms have been simplified but are very much in the spirit of Beethoven's writing. The optional timpani gives this arrangement a symphonic quality that closely resembles the original.Written in 1814, the Fidelio Overture was the fourth and final version chosen to open Beethoven's only opera by the same name. I arranged Beethovenas Coriolan Overture for a small group of instruments, both to honor Beethovenas 250th birthday and to provide a template for the young composers invited to create a new composition as part of the Yale School of Music New Music Workshop in Norfolk, Connecticut. Beethovenas embodiment of tragic social conflict is a particularly timely and inspiring example for younger composers of how such turbulence and struggle might be revealed in music.I arranged Beethoven's Coriolan Overture for a small group of instruments, both to honor Beethoven's 250th birthday and to provide a template for the young composers invited to create a new composition as part of the Yale School of Music New Music Workshop in Norfolk, Connecticut.
