'LISTENING EARTH' is a symphonic drama, a one- movement composition in four parts based on the work by two writers, Joseph Addison (1672-1719) and W.H.Auden (1907-1973). Joseph Addison is not particularly well known; he was English, a classical scholar, essayist, poet and politician, but one of his hymns was used by Benjamin Britten. in his setting of a Thomas Tallis canon. The hymn is singularly beautiful and being a composer always inspired by extramusical stimuli such as poems, nature, paintings, I was immediately convinced when I carne across the Addison hymn, that here was exactly what I wanted to use as my major source of inspiration for this piece, commissioned by and written for The Berlin Philharmonic. I don't refer to the hymn in its entirety, but have chosen the following 3 excerpts, all acting as mottos for the first three sections of the piece, thus turning the piece into a straightforward tonepoem in the classical. $131.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks
| Panache Concert band [Score and Parts] - Intermediate G and M Brand Music Publishers
Concert band (Full Score, 1st Flute/Piccolo, 2nd Flute, Oboe, Clarinet 1/2/3, Bb...(+)
Concert band (Full Score, 1st Flute/Piccolo, 2nd Flute, Oboe, Clarinet 1/2/3, Bb Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Trumpet 1/2/3, Horn 1/2, Trombone 1/2/3, Euphonium, Tuba, Timpani, Percussion 1 (snare drum, tambourine, castanets, tam tam, cras) - grade 4 SKU: CN.R10221 Composed by Bruce Fraser. Band Music. Score and parts. Duration 7:30. Published by G & M Brand Music Publishers (CN.R10221). The work has a military feel in the opening fanfare, but settles down to an angular melody with frequent changes in time signature. There is the possibility of adding extra drummers near the end - a drum corps was used behind the Band in the first performance making a stunning effect.
PANACHE was commissioned by Lt. Peter Rutterford who was then Director of Music for the Band of the Royal Marines (FOSNI). Peter was about to leave the Rosyth and wanted to have a celebratory work for his departure. The resulting piece was titled by him and to reflect his outgoing personality, and the first performance was given by Lt. Rutterford with the Royal Marines Band in the Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, Scotland. $125.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks
| Handbell Mass Choral SATB Laurendale Associates
SATB choir, handbells, handchimes, percussion SKU: MN.HB-1130S Composed b...(+)
SATB choir, handbells, handchimes, percussion SKU: MN.HB-1130S Composed by Dale Jergenson. 21st Century. Instrument parts. Laurendale Associates #HB-1130S. Published by Laurendale Associates (MN.HB-1130S). UPC: 765844006051. Latin. I have been writing for Handbells for many years and thought it about time to combine my love for both choral and handbell writing to create a special Mass for the St. Cyril of Jerusalem congregation, choir and choirmaster. We were very fortunate that we were able to employ the services of the Concordia Alumni Handbell Ensemble under the creative direction of Cyndi Tully for our premiere performance. It is written in such a way that the Choral parts are not as active as the Handbell parts - this is intentional as I wanted the Bells to stand out as featured instruments. -Dale Jergenson
