Um das Jahr 1914 schrieb Gustav Holst (1874-1934) das siebenteilige Werk Die Planeten, das heute noch das meist aufgeführte klassische Werk aus der Feder eines Engländers ist. Besondere Beliebtheit genießt das prächtige choralartige Thema aus dem vierten Satz Jupiter. Um diese Musik auch kleineren Ensembles und Jugendblasorchestern zugänglich zu machen, bearbeitete Robert van Beringen den Satz für eine fünfstimmig variable Besetzung.

La suite orchestrale Les Planètes de Gustav Holst est considérée comme l’une des œuvres classiques du XXe siècle dont la palette sonore est la plus complète. Jupiter Hymn de Robert van Beringen est basé sur le quatrième mouvement de la suite, consacré Jupiter, celui qui apporte la Gaîté.

In recent years significant numbers of manuscripts of instrumental pieces by Antonio Vivaldi have been discovered in libraries in Austria (Vienna), Norway (Trondheim}, Poland (Danzig), and especially Sweden (Uppsala, Stockholm, Skara, Lund). Included among these manuscripts are a few pieces for woodwind instruments at least as attractive as those known from the Vivaldi manuscripts in Dresden and Turin. Three of them, a flute sonata in E minor, a trio sonata for 2 oboes and basso continuo, and the present concerto for oboe, violin and orchestra in C minor will be published by Musica Rara under my editorship.
