The melody of Hava Nagila was adapted from a folk dance from the Romanian district of Bucovina. The commonly used text is taken from Psalm 118 of the Hebrew bible.

Concert Band/Harmonie - Grade 2.5 SKU: BT.DHP-1053822-010 Composed by Jacob De Haan. Performance Series. Folk Klezmer. Set (Score & Parts). Composed 2005. De Haske Publications #DHP 1053822-010. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1053822-010). Klezmer was originally the name given to the music of the Yiddish speaking Jews in Eastern Europe. The klezmer musicians played dance music, mainly at weddings. Historically string instruments such as the violin were predominantly used, but later (after ca. 1900) other instruments and in particular the clarinet were added as melodic instruments. In klezmer music in addition to Balkan influences oriental and gipsy influences can also be found. Jacob de Haan composed Klezmania in this style, based on the well-known Hebrew song Hava Nagila.
$110.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

This edition: Saddle stitching. Sheet music. Choral. Octavo. 16 pages. Duration 9'. Schott Music #C57130. Published by Schott Music (HL.49044667). ISBN 9790001203241. German. These three a cappella movements each originate from different largescale compositions, some for fairly substantial forces. In these works, when the focus is turned on the essence of a statement, I have (probably out of pure instinct) permitted all adjuncts - such as subtle orchestral accompaniment, opulent percussion, soloists, electronics etc. - to fall silent and tried to express myself through pure choral singing. There is a saying originating from the Judeo-Christian tradition of thought: 'The last shirt has no pockets.' Perhaps this can also be applied within the field of music when one is attempting to penetrate to the essentials. Harald Weiss. $8.99 - See more - Buy online
