STB Voices, SATB Choir, [2 Tr, Timp], 2 Vl, Va, Vc/Cb, Org - Level 3 SKU: CA.4067593 Composed by Franz Schubert. Carus CD series: Carus Choir Coach; Sacred vocal music, Masses, Latin. Carus Choir Coach. Mp3, Practice-CD, tenore. Sacred vocal music, Masses, Latin. Compact Disc. D 167. Duration 25 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 40.675/93. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.4067593). Key: G major. Language: Latin. Franz Schubert's Mass in G major is one of the most popular settings of the mass ordinary: the charming song-like melodic writing, especially in the Kyrie and the Credo, forms a magical counterpoint to more concertante passages in the Gloria and the Sanctus. For a long time it was thought that Schubert's final version was scored for purely string orchestra, whilst a version with wind, brass, and timpani was thought to be an expanded orchestration by his brother Ferdinand Schubert. However, since the mid-1990s it has been known that the parts for trumpets and timpani were additionally composed by Franz Schubert himself for use ad libitum. The present edition offers this Klosterneuburg Version - with trumpets and timpani ad libitum, but without Ferdinand's wind parts - in an Urtext edition reflecting Schubert's own intended orchestration. This work is available in carus music, the choir app! Score available separately - see item CA.4067500. $20.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |

Violin 1 (solos: SATB - choir: SATB - 1.2.2.2 - 2.2.3.0 - timp - org - str) SKU: BR.OB-5506-15 Urtext. Composed by Franz Schubert. Edited by Peter Jost. This edition: violin 1 part. Choir; stapled. Orchester-Bibliothek (Orchestral Library). To strive for the highest in art - these are the words with which Franz Schubert announced his A flat major Mass in 1828. Mass; Romantic. Part. 22 pages. Duration 45'. Breitkopf and Haertel #OB 5506-15. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.OB-5506-15). ISBN 9790004338810. 10 x 12.5 inches. To strive for the highest in art - these are the words with which Franz Schubert announced his A flat major Mass in 1828, a work which he designated as Missa solemnis in his autograph. Alone the genesis of the work shows the importance which the composer placed on this work. Schubert wrote the score between 1819 and 1822, an unusually long period of time for him. He later fundamentally revised the mass when he applied for the post of Vice Court Kapellmeister in Vienna, which he did not obtain. After this disappointment, he rejected his original intent of dedicating the mass to the Emperor or Empress. Thanks to Peter Jost's Breitkopf Urtext edition, Schubert's Missa solemnis once again adds its luster to the publisher's catalogue: Breitkopf & Hartel published its final version in the Schubert Gesamtausgabe in 1887. Previously Jost produced an equally exemplarily prepared edition of Schubert's E flat major Mass D 950.Wie immer bei Breitkopf ist das Satzbild der Neuausgabe der Zweitfassung in der Gestalt vorbildlich. Woodwinds (solos: SATTB - choir: SATB - 0.2.2.2 - 2.2.3.0 - timp - str) SKU: BR.OB-5286-30 Urtext. Composed by Franz Schubert. Edited by Peter Jost. Choir; Folder. Orchester-Bibliothek (Orchestral Library). Schubert's last great mass, whose first performance in October 1829 he no longer lived to experience. Mass; Romantic. Set of parts. 172 pages. Duration 55'. Breitkopf and Haertel #OB 5286-30. Published by Breitkopf and Haertel (BR.OB-5286-30). ISBN 9790004337684. 10 x 12.5 inches. Striving for the highest in art - this is how Schubert announced his A-flat major Mass to the Schott publishing house in 1828. The statement can also be seen as an artistic credo applicable to his last great mass, which the composer wrote that same year but whose first performance in October 1829 he no longer lived to experience. Since a source-critical new edition of the E-flat major Mass is a must for Breitkopf & Hartel's catalogue, Peter Jost has taken up this challenge and come up with a compelling edition that does justice to the high demands of the Breitkopf Urtext collection.
