Fanfare Band - Grade 3 SKU: BT.DHP-1125214-120 Composed by Jacob De Haan....(+)
Fanfare Band - Grade 3 SKU: BT.DHP-1125214-120 Composed by Jacob De Haan. Concert and Contest Collection Brass Band en Fanfare. Score Only. Composed 2012. 40 pages. De Haske Publications #DHP 1125214-120. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1125214-120). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. On a war memorial in the Dutch village of Wons is engraved a list of names to honour the fallen in World War II. This is the basis for the name of this piece. However, this composition was written for everyone who has made Wons what it is today: a pretty place near to Lake IJssel with a comfortable way of life. The piece begins with a celebratory introduction in which the village is presented to the listener. There follows a delightful rhythmic and high-tempo theme that reflects the happiness, innocence and carefree atmosphere before the war. Now we hear a moody, fragmented theme depicting soldiers shooting. This is brought to a close with dissonant clusters of sound, intoning the dreadful tragedy of the war. The ensuing quiet gives way to a calm middle section in a minor key that portrays both frustration and consolation. The fast tempo of the beginning returns, this time in the form of a victory march. We hear freedom being celebrated. We hear the previous happy, innocent and carefree themes, too. There follows a festive, martial theme, a tribute to the village, before the piece closes with sounds of celebration.
$42.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

| An English Christmas 1 Hal Leonard
SAM a cappella Choral (SA MEN, A CAPPELLA) SKU: HL.392323 SAM-Klang Ch...(+)
SAM a cappella Choral (SA MEN, A CAPPELLA) SKU: HL.392323 SAM-Klang Choral Series. Arranged by Morten Schuldt-jensen. Choral. Softcover. 34 pages. Duration 210 seconds. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.392323). ISBN 9781705157121. UPC: 196288030195. 6.75x9.25x0.136 inches. This first collection of five carols samples the vast spectrum of festive musical fare that still lies at the heart of the English Christmas tradition. The name SAM-Klang takes the three voice parts from the arrangements -- Soprano, Alto and Men -- and combines it with the Scandinavian and German words for “sound†to create the portmanteau word “sound together†or “harmony.†The series offers basic and advanced choral repertoire. In addition to new repertoire and new arrangements, you will also find essential parts of the classical German, Scandinavian, French and English SATB repertoire, carefully and considerately reworked for SAM. The arrangements retain the characteristic features of the original movements and have almost the same richness of timbre, resulting in works which sound nearly unchanged to an audience. Piano reductions of all choral movements facilitate rehearsal preparation. The arrangements offer development opportunities for all voice sections, bringing new life and new quality to SAM choir work. SAM-Klang enables youth choirs to gain access to classical choral literature and ensures that mixed choirs who face challenges in finding singers for all male voice parts continue to have access to well-loved repertoire. $8.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

Orchestra Cello, Contrabass, Viola, Violin 1, Violin 2 - Grade 3 SKU: CF.CAS1...(+)
Orchestra Cello, Contrabass, Viola, Violin 1, Violin 2 - Grade 3 SKU: CF.CAS159F Composed by Charles Francois Gounod. Arranged by Caryn Wiegand Neidhold. Cas. Full score. Duration 2 minutes, 37 seconds. Carl Fischer Music #CAS159F. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.CAS159F). ISBN 9781491165447. UPC: 680160924356. Key: D minor. Charles Gounod (1818-1893) was a French composer who was well-known and well-regarded in his lifetime. His legacy included breaking from the grand opera tradition and influencing the next generation of Frenchcomposers. March of the Marionette was originally a piano solo titled Funeral March of a Marionette. Gounod wrote the piece to make fun of the music critic, Henry Chorley. The marionette dies in a duel, possibly a musical imitation of a public argument about the merits of Gounod’s compositions. The marionette’s friends have a funeral for him, creating a procession through the streets, with a brief stop for refreshments, illustrated in the D major section. This now-familiar theme has been used in frequently in advertisements, movies, and television shows. It was used as the theme music for Alfred Hitchcock Presents television show (1956-66) introducing dramas, mysteries, and thrillers. The prevailing bow strokes in this piece range from spiccato stroke to a light brush stroke for all eighth notes, regardless of articulation markings. Students should experiment with bow distribution to discover the appropriate placement for different dynamics. Students just learning the spiccato bow stroke will be more successful if they start this bow stroke close to their bow hand. Encourage students to discuss the character of the music and how to bring the storyline to life as an ensemble. About Carl Fischer Concert String Orchestra Series This series of pieces (Grade 3 and higher) is designed for advancing ensembles. The pieces in this series are characterized by: - Expanded use of rhythms, ranges and keys but technical demands are still carefully considered
- More comprehensive bowing techniques
- Viola T.C. included
- Careful selection of keys and degree of difficulty for advancing musicians

Piano - Grade 3-4 SKU: ET.PNO81 Composed by Caroline Charriere. Contemporary. Editions BIM #PNO81. Published by Editions BIM (ET.PNO81). ISBN 9790207003256. L’enfance en éclats 2001 [Childhood Shattered] As its title suggests, Childhood Shattered is program music. A simple and graceful tune, symbolizing childhood, is abruptly interrupted by a horrific, dissonant chord. The tune returns ; but the echo of the chord, still lingering in the background, tells us that the memory of the traumatic event persists. Life has darkened. Nothing is as it was before. The initial melody wanders into keys ever stranger and more distant, ultimately arriving at a new theme, obsessive, with grating seconds and thrusting accents. This shattered childhood and its episodes of aimlessness, will it give birth to new certainties? The piece is an exercise in contrasting detached notes with tied notes. Commissioned by the Association Jeune musique. Required work at the International Piano Competition Freiburg - Jeune Musique, 2002. Toccata (2004) This piece by Caroline Charrière issues from the historical lineage of the toccata, traditionally an exercise of dexterity characterized by repeated musical motifs. The introduction is constructed of subtly displaced upper-register chords in the right hand that alternate with two lower notes in the left hand, creating an almost meditative preamble. In the rapid section of the piece, the performer playfully exploits the keyboard's full breadth in the course of spirited dialogues between notes high and low. Commissioned by the Association Jeune Musique. Required work in Category IV at the International Piano Competition Freiburg - Jeune musique, 2004. The popularity of Purcell's setting is apparent from the many sources that survive and from the printed extracts which appeared almost immediately after its first performance. The primary source for this edition is the largely autograph manuscript in the Bodleian Library. Rather to reduce the orthography to a norm, the capitalization of the vocal text favours Purcell's preferences.
My father PhDr. Jaroslav Smolka (1933-2011) was a leading Czech musicologist author of books Czech Cantata and Oratorium Fuga in Czech Music Smetana's Orchestra Music Smetana's Vocal Music monography of Jan Dismas Zelenka and many others. He was a legendary teacher of Music History at Prague Music Academy critic recording producer composer; for almost 50 years he was an important and highly respected personality of Prague musical life. My father devoted a lot of time and energy to musical education and activities of my sister and me using often quite original methods such as teaching of intervals and counterpoint through Bartok's Microcosmos ear training filling all imaginable moments of everyday life or lessons of harmony analysis starting with Overture to Tristan and Musorgsky's Catacombs. The Martinu song Wondering Maiden was his solo number in our home vocal productions which he used to sing with amazing devotion while his huge voice was audible in several neighboring streets. My Agnus Dei is closely bound to all this history e.g. by using canon and preferring beauty of dissonant seconds like Bartok or quoting Martinu and his refined neoclassical harmony. Father would be probably a bit critical about the minimalistic monotony of the main body of the piece. Nevertheless firstly he would improvise a short lecture of history of Agnus Dei in Requiem in Czech Music naming by heart many dates and all examples of changes of order of the traditional text by composers. Examples would be sung probably. (Martin Smolka). $8.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks

Despite extensive researches, no evidence of any sort has yet been brought to light to document its origin, purpose, date of composition, first performance or reception. A stylistic analysis indubitably supports the contention that the ,Messe de mort' is a late work, composed perhaps between 1722 and 1729. The present edition is based on the manuscript from the Bibliotheque Nationale de France (Paris). It it the oldest known source of the work. The very few errors have been corrected.
$14.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks
