From the composer: Written as a statement of support for, and allyship with, our Black brothers and sisters (as well as all people of color). Too often, in any aspect of life, we explain away other people’s experiences instead of seeking to understand experiences that differ from our own; we’re so busy talking about our own viewpoints that we fail to listen to the voices we most need to hear. I asked Tony Silvestri to write a text that could function as a personal statement from me to people I need to listen to—especially to my friends of color. This the text that resulted—words that speak powerfully for any situation where we need to listen to those who have been marginalized or mistreated, not heard or believed. For SATB or SSAA choir with piano and optional guitar.

This arrangement is a medley of three spirituals: Come down, angels, Listen to the angels, and My way's cloudy, all from The Story of the Fisk Jubilee Singers, one of the earliest printed collections of slave spirituals. In all three, angels are the heavenly messengers who inspire and lead the singers out of bondage into the promised land. In this arrangement, the angels are not dimpled cherubs, but rather towering figures who energize the singers in their difficult and dangerous journey. Swing rhythm sections alternate with softer sections in straight rhythm, in this fine concert closer with barn-burning piano accompaniment. The spirituals' Exodus imagery makes this medley suitable for Passover programming, as well as for concerts which honor slave spirituals. SSAA and piano; 14 pages; duration: 5:00 min.; range: e to g#''; difficulty: medium. SSAA, piano Published by: Treble Clef Music Minimum order quantity: 8 copies.

This powerful and passionate ballad by the Witch to her daughter from Sondheim's masterpiece Into the Woods is here set for the concert stage. It is a tour de force when performed with piano, but when using the optional instrumentation for 2 violins, viola, cello, celesta, and percussion, this will be a most memorable addition to a concert.

This setting of Ave Regina c''lorum (Hail, O Queen of Heaven), one of the four Marian antiphons with origins in the 4th century, is ajoyous work for upper voices, suitable for children's or women's choirs. It is full of energy and, although it is largely homophonic, the rhythmic interplay between the parts creates interesting textures which combine with Arnesens recognisable, beautiful harmonic language. The jubilant outer sections contrast with a slower, more mysterious middle section where the text speaks of the Virgin Marys beauty. A joy to both sing and listen to, this new piece will make an attractive addition to a concert or service.

The haunting melody is variously placed against pedal points, with unison phrase closings, in the alto line, and at close imitation, to give the acoustic feeling of the singers' listening and longing for the sound of the beloved.  This French impressionistic and contemplative work, “In paradisum†(May the angels lead you into paradise ), was added to the original Requiem by Fauré in 1893. The original 1888 version was heard in Paris in a funeral Mass at La Madeleine with Fauré playing the organ. The text refers to the miracle of eternal rest (“aeternam habeas requiemâ€). In this edition for treble voices, listeners can hear the continuous fluttering of angel’s wings in the keyboard against the beautifully melodic, mostly unison vocal lines sung by the choir. The rich D major harmonies are developed toward the end of both verses and, finally, in the ending invitation to have eternal rest. About the Series: Doreen Rao, 2019 Robert Shaw Award recipient, launches her culturally inclusive choral series, Global Encounters for Young Voices, featuring accessible treble- and mixed-voice works for developing choirs.

Rachmaninoff knew how to make a melody turn and stretch and draw the listener in to its flow. This arrangement for treble choir lets the voices carry the famous tune, sharing in harmony or even moving into counterpoint at times. Veteran pianist Jan Sanborn supplied her expertise to the piano accompaniment. A great concert choice for treble choirs of all ages. Easy to medium in difficulty.

Originally an easy-listening pop hit for Petula Clark, this song lends itself well to a vocal jazz setting for mixed and women's groups, offering opportunities to develop intonation, blend, rhythm and solo techniques.
