“Sarabande et Finale is a nice piece by Raymond Gallois Montbrun for Bb or C Trumpet and Piano accompaniment. Quite difficult, this piece is great for recitals or concert. Starting with the Piano for just six measures before the Trumpet Solo, the sarabande has a slow tempo. The finale is faster, Allegro, and features a period with solo Piano before evolving into Vivo. It features the score and parts for Bb or C Trumpet. Raymond Gallois Montbrun (1918-1994) was a French violinist and composer who won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome and the Grand Prix de Paris. He later became the director of the Paris Conservatoire. He composed many symphonic pieces, an opera, a quartet and many pieces for Solo Piano, Violin and Piano and other instruments.â€.

Best playability and musical spirit - this is what characterizes the music of Bertold Hummel who died in 2002, and why his music must be part of the repertoire of any amateur and semi-professional orchestra. The Oregon Symphony occupies a special position in his oeuvre: it was written by Hummel for the typically American symphonic wind bands, requiring almost 100 musicians, including 15 clarinets in three groups of five alone, as well as four piccolos and six flutes, bass clarinet, bassoons, saxophones, trumpets, horns, tubas and the typically American sousaphone, and five percussionists. The work consists of four movements; in the rousing finale, Hummel mixes jazz motifs with popular themes and even weaves the anthem of the State of Oregon in the final music. For getting better acquainted with this music, the first movement is also separately available ('Symphonische Ouverture', SHS 1001).Picc. * 2 * 2 * Klar. in Es * 3 * Bassklar. in B * 2 Altsax. in Es * Tenorsax. in B * Baritonsax. in Es * 2 - 4 * 3 (Korn.) * 3 * Tenorhr. in B (Bar.) * 2 - P. This “Grand Overture†was commissioned by the “Nagano Community Band†- Japan- on occasion of its jubilee in 1992 and is dedicated to the band’s conductor, Ikuo Inagaki. The work is based upon three main themes, each symbolising a certain theme. The first part is characterized by its bright themes played mainly by the brass, accompanied by the woodwinds and festive percussion. This part symbolizes the jubilee which is the origin of the composition. This is followed by a bouncing allegro, in which each register of the band displays brilliant techniques. Especially the woodwinds come to the fore! This movement depicts the industriousness and enthousiasm shown by the members of the“Nagano Community Band†in the carrying out of their hobby. A third, main theme, is choral-like in character and is displayed both in the (soft) brass as well as in the warm medium register of the reeds. Here, nature’s beaty in and around the city of Nagano is musically celebrated. Following a “chamber-music episode†(featuring the flute, oboe, clarinet, alto-saxophone and horn) the initial allegro re-occurs, weaving its way towards a grandiose finale, in which the two previous themes are once again apparent. Due to its very colourful scoring and the enormous diversity of musical thoughts and ideas, this composition is a fascinating and memorable piece, worthy a jubilee overture!

Fantasy for Marimba was commissioned by the outstanding Japanese marimba player, Fumito Nunoya. Although it is written in concerto style, the piano not only accompanies the solo marimba but also plays an important part in the development of the work. The piece is written in four movements, played without a break: Allegro, Andante misterioso, Tempo rubato and Allegro energico. Also available for Marimbaphone and Piano.
