This composition, based on the hymn Praise to the Lord, is comprised of eight separate parts that can be played together as a concert piece or opening work. The A and B sections are different openings, C is four-part arrangement of the hymn, D is a solo for four saxophones, or two trumpets and two trombones, E is a calm intermezzo, F a solo for trumpet or cornet, and G and F finally are a majestic or peaceful closing section. How will you choose to present this piece on stage?

Deze compositie bestaat uit acht op zich zelfstaande delen die u zelf tot een concert- of openingswerk kunt samenstellen. Het is gebaseerd op het kerkelijke lied Lof zij de Heer. De delen A en B bieden twee verschillende openingen.C is een vierstemmig deel van het lied. D is dedoeld als solo voor vier saxofoons of twee trompetten en twee trombones. E is een rustig intermezzo. F bevat een solo voor trompet of cornet. Met G of H tenslotte kunt u hetwerk óf majestueus óf rustig besluiten. En..? Weet u al hoe u dit prachtige werk gaat uitvoeren?

Diese Komposition, die auf dem Kirchenlied Lobet den Herren basiert, besteht aus acht einzelnen Teilen, die individuell zu einem Konzert oder Eröffnungswerk zusammengestellt werden können. Die Teile A und B sind unterschiedliche Eröffnungen, C ein vierstimmiger Satz des Liedes, D ist für ein Solo für vier Saxophone oder zwei Trompeten und zwei Posaunen, E ein ruhiges Intermezzo, F ein Solo für Trompete oder Kornett und G und F schließlich ein majestätischer oder ein ruhiger Schlussteil. Carl Wittrock est né en 1966 Goor (Pays-Bas). Sa carrière musicale a commencé la musique de Goor, où il a étudié le violon et la clarinette. Depuis 1984, il dirige des orchestres différents et il est également professeur de musique. Il composa sa première pièce en 1985. Depuis, son talent n’a cessé de croître, résolument tourné vers un sytle inspiré et novateur. Avec Praise to the Lord (Loué soit le Seigneur) Carl Wittrock signe une pièce émotionnelle dont la ligne mélodique et lumineuse accompagnera toutes vos cérémonies religieuses.

As the title suggests, this opening work consists of a fanfare and a hymn. This work was written for the opening ceremony of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf (Allgäu, Germany) and can be played in four different versions depending on your needs or the players available. You can use a complete version, a short fanfare played just by trumpets (cornets), trombones and timpani, a double fanfare (extended with tutti-band) or a fanfare version followed by the hymn. Nordic Fanfare and Hymn is an extremely practical and versatile ceremonial opening piece.

Zoals de titel aangeeft, bestaat dit openingswerk uit een fanfare en een hymne. Het werd geschreven voor de openingsceremonie van de FIS Nordische wereldkampioenschappen skiën in Oberstdorf (Allgäu, Duitsland). Het werk kan in vierverschillende versies worden gespeeld. Er is een volledige versie. Een korte fanfare door trompetten (of cornetten), trombones en pauken, een dubbele fanfare (uitgebreid met tutti-orkest), en een fanfareversie gevolgd door een deelvan de hymne.

Dieses Werk wurde für die Eröffnungszeremonie der FIS Nordische Skimeisterschaften in Oberstdorf im Allgäu geschrieben. Es kann in vier verschiedenen Versionen gespielt werden, da viele Blasorchester in der täglichen Praxis unterschiedliche zeremonielle Varianten benötigen. Der Komponist stellte hierfür eine vollständige Version zusammen, eine kurze Fanfare für Trompeten, Posaunen und Pauken, eine Doppelfanfare (erweitert durch ein Tutti) sowie eine Fanfareversion, gefolgt von einem Teil der Hymne.

Noridc Fanfare & Hymn è stato scritto per la cerimonia di apertura dei Campionati del Mondo di Sci Nordico di Obersdtorf in Germania. Per renderne possibile l’utilizzo in diverse cerimonie, questa composizione può essere interpretata in quattro versioni diverse. Una versione integrale; una versione costituita da una breve fanfara suonata dalle trombe (cornette), dai tromboni e dai timpani; una versione in fanfara doppia (seguita da un tutti orchestrale) e una versione composta da una fanfara seguita da un estratto dell’inno.

In a four-part composition Rieks van der Velde takes us to the richly varied area surrounding the university city of Cambridge.
The Dutch composer was especially inspired by the atmosphere of Cambridgeshire, the county which lies north of London.

1. The Journey.
Although on arrival the area looks peaceful and friendly, the ruggedness of its inhabitants and landscape have an unmistakable influence on the music.
In the course of the tour, which starts with an Allegro movement, we are shown the vitality, energy and freshness of the Cambridgeshire countryside.
Short themes, swift and sudden motifs and rhythmical patterns supported by the drive ofpercussion instruments give expression to this image.
The first part is concluded by two 'Calmo' movements in which the music expresses how the cathedral in the city of Ely comes into sight and is gradually approached.

2. Visit to Ely Cathedral.
The famous Norman cathedral church of Ely, which was built in 1109, has attracted tourists from all over the world apart from being a place of worship and heritage site.
A cornet solo introduces the contemplative mood of the composition at this point.
The mystical atmosphere of the cathedral runs through this lyrical part like a continuous thread.

3. The Pub.
The thirst caused by this intensive journey makes a visit to the local pub a definite must.
These “public houses”, which may be open until the early hours of the morning, offer all kinds of entertainment.
Drinks are served liberally and the atmosphere is lively.

4. The Journey Back.
Time has flown: In other words, the moment of departure has come sooner than one would have wished.
In a flashback which recaptures elements of the first part of the composition we say goodbye to Cambridgeshire in a fitting manner.
Two scintillating final measures bring us abruptly back to the present.

In een viertal delen neemt Rieks van der Velde ons mee door de zeer gevarieerde streek rond de universiteitsstad Cambridge.
De Nederlandse componist liet zich inspireren door vooral de sfeer in het graafschap Cambridgeshire tennoorden van Londen.

1. The Journey.
De aankomst in de streek is vriendelijk te noemen doch de grilligheid van de mensen en het landschap heeft een onmiskenbare invloed op de muziek.
De rondreis welke start op hetAllegro laat Cambridgeshire zien als een streek van vitaliteit, energie en frisheid.
Korte thema's, flitsende motiefjes en ritmische patroontjes gesteund door stuwend slagwerk bevestigen dit beeld.
Het eerste gedeelte besluitmet twee 'Calmo' gedeelten waarbij het zicht op de kathedraal van de stad Ely en het naderen ervan wordt aangegeven.

2. Visit to Ely Cathedral.
In 1109 werd de beroemde kathedraal van Ely gebouwd die tot op de dagvan vandaag een grote aantrekkingskracht geniet van niet alleen toeristen.
Het rustpunt van de compositie wordt ingeleid door een cornetsolo.
De mystieke sfeer van de kathedraal is de rode draad in dit lyrische gedeelte.

3. The Pub.
Een intensieve rondreis maakt dorstig en een bezoek aan de pub is uiteraard een must.
Tot 11 uur 's avonds kan men er terecht voor alle vormen van vertier. De drank vloeit rijkelijk en de sfeer is feestelijk.

4. The Journey Back.
Er is een tijd van komen en gaan, en dat moment komt eerder dan je zou willen met andere woorden de tijd is omgevlogen.
Met een flash back naar het eerste deel wordt op passende wijze afscheidgenomen van Cambridgeshire.
Twee flitsende slotmaten zetten ons in één klap weer in het hier en nu.

Ole Olsen (4 July 1850 - 4 November 1927) was a Norwegian organist, composer, conductor and military musician.
Originally written for piano, this lovely, tender lullaby has been arranged by Tom Brevik for fanfare band and solo quartet.

There are three (optional) quartets delivered:

Een kwartet met begeleiding van het fanfare-orkest is een ongebruikelijke combinatie.
