The composition ".The Fever Tree". in 2008 was commissioned by the Music Association of Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord as a gift to all its members on the occasion of the formation of a national music organization and the elimination of the music union for Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord.
The fever tree is a controversial legend about St. Willibrord (658-739).
The daughter of a pagan chieftain of Hoemannen that made the area around
Heumen unsafe, was seriously ill. They feared for her life.
The chief of the gang turned to predatory Willibrord, who same time in this region led mission.
Willibrord commanded theman to repent and a headband of the girl
to a certain special tree to hang.
The desperate captain obeyed, and his daughter was a miraculous heal.
Then came the anger of the Hoemannen against their leader, who in their
eyes had committed treason by the group to convert. They abused themselves to him and killed him brutally.
The daughter remained behind in great sorrow, comforted by Willibrord.

The composition has the following scenes:
- Andante moderato - the calling of Willibrord
- Allegro moderato - Willibrord passes through the province of Brabant and try to people to repent
- Vivace - Hoemannen terrorize the inhabitants of the area Heumen
- Andante - the healing of the sick girl and the conversion of the centurion
- Inquieto - the revenge of the Hoemannen
- Adagio - elegy on the death of the chief

De compositie 'The Fever Tree' (De koortsboom) werd in 2008 geschreven in opdracht van de Muziekbond Midden- en Oost Nederland St.Willibrord, als geschenk aan al haar leden bij gelegenheid van de vorming van één landelijke muziekorganisatieen de opheffing van de muziekbond voor Midden- en Oost Nederland St.Willibrord.

De koortsboom is een omstreden legende rond St. Willibrord (658-739).
De dochter van de heidense hoofdman van de Hoemannen, diehet gebied rond Heumen onveilig maakten, was ernstig ziek. Men vreesde voor haar leven. De hoofdman van de roofzuchtige bende wende zich tot Willibrord, die in dezelfde tijd in deze streek missioneerde. Willibrord gebood deman zich te bekeren én een hoofdband van het meisje aan een bepaalde, bijzondere boom te hangen. De radeloze hoofdman gehoorzaamde en zijn dochter werd op wonderbaarlijke wijze genezen. Toen keerde de woede van de Hoemannen zichtegen hun leider, die in hun ogen verraad had gepleegd aan de groep door zich te bekeren. Ze vergrepen zich aan hem en vermoordden hem op gruwelijke wijze. De dochter bleef in grote droefheid achter, getroost door Willibrord.

De compositie kent de volgende tableaus:

- Andante moderato - de roeping van Willibrord
- Allegro moderato - Willibrord trekt door het Brabantse land en tracht de bevolking te bekeren
- Vivace - deHoemannen terroriseren de inwoners van het gebied rond Heumen
- Andante - de genezing van het zieke meisje en de bekering van de hoofdman
- Inquieto - de wraak van de Hoemannen
- Adagio - treurzang over de doodvan de hoofdman.

Whereas ‘Auld Lang Syne’ may be considered the best-known Scottish song ever, yet at the same time it is an obscure one, for there are but few people who know the complete text by heart.
After the familiar ‘Should auld acquaintance be forgot .....‘ many people take their refuge to lyrics like ‘rum tee dum ta dee ..... lah, lah, lah ........... for auld lang syne’.
Even in Scotland only a handful of persons know the entire text and are able to give a correct rendering of it.
The current lyrics have been attributed to the Scottish poet Robert Burns. Burns, however, he did not write the whole poem : after he had heard an old man sing the centuries-old Scotchballad, he wrote it down and added a number of stanzas (1788).
Historical research teaches us that the ballad served many purposes, both political and religious.
Nowadays, ‘Auld Lang Syne’ is sung as a Christmas Carol and it is also sung on New Year’s Eve at the turning of the year. Apart from that, though, the song is also sung on many other occasions sometimes with different lyrics, which usually have Love, Friendship and/or Parting as their themes, as these go well with the fascinating melody.

In this arrangement a low-sounding solo instrument is central. The harmonization in the accompaniment fits in perfectly with the sentiments this song will evoke.

Misschien wel het meest bekende Schotse lied, maar tegelijkertijd ook het minst bekende, er zijn er maar weinig mensen die de tekst mee kunnen zingen.
Na het bekende ‘Should auld acquaintaintance be forgot and .....‘ vervallenvelen in ‘rum tee dum ta dee ..... lah, lah, lah ........... for auld lang syne’.
Zelfs in Schotland is maar een enkeling in staat de tekst correct weer te geven.
De huidige versie wordt toegeschreven aan de Schotse dichterRobert Burns. Burns heeft echter niet de hele tekst gemaakt.
Toen hij de eeuwen oude Schotse ballade door een oude man hoorde zingen, heeft hij enkele verzen toegevoegd (1788).
Historisch onderzoek leert dat de ballade voorveel doeleinden gebruikt werd, voor politieke als ook religieuze doelen.
Tegenwoordig wordt ‘Auld Lang Syne’ gebruikt als Christmas Carol en wordt het gezongen tijdens de jaarwisseling op oudejaarsavond.Het lied, soms meteen andere tekst, wordt echter op veel meer plaatsen gebruikt.
Liefde, Vriendschap en Afscheid zijn dan meestal de sentimenten die gecombineerd worden met de meeslepende melodie.

In dit arrangement staat een ‘laag’ solo-instrumentcentraal.
De harmonisatie in de begeleiding sluit naadloos aan bij deze gevoelens die dit lied oproepen.

With this surprising little work, the composer not only intended to write a delightfully swinging composition. he also had an educational message up his sleeve. Especially as far as timing and rhytm are concerned there is plenty of action. Rhythm Forever might very well be an absolute showstopper on your next concert. Met dit verrassende werk, was het niet alleen de bedoeling van de componist om een heerlijk swingende compositie te schrijven, hij had ook een educatieve boodschap in petto. Vooral wat timing en ritme betreft is er volop actie.

The Blues is a well-known style of popular music. The name does not come out of thin air. After all, the term ‘blues’ refers to a state of mind: with the sentence ‘I got the blues’ someone means they are in low spirits. The blues originate in the melancholic music that the slaves in the southern United States made to relieve their depressing circumstances to some extent. This new concert work makes use of ‘blue notes’ (the flattened 3rd and 7th notes of the scale) which give this exciting work its blues sound.

De Blues vindt zijn oorsprong in de melancholische muziek die de slaven in het zuiden van de Verenigde Staten maakten om hun ellendige omstandigheden enigzins te verzachten. Karakteristiek voor deze muziek is onder andere het gebruikvan 'blue notes', die uiteraard ook in de blues Forever van Roland Kernen veelvuldig voorkomen.

Roland Kernen erinnert in seinem Stück Blues Forever an den Ursprung des Blues in der melancholischen Musik der schwarzamerikanischen Sklaven in den Südstaaten der USA. Die Musik drückte das tiefe Leid aus, diente aber zugleich als Trost und Stärkung. Charakteristisch für diesen Musikstil ist damals wie heute die Verwendung so genannter blue notes“, die auch in Kernens authentischem, bewegenden Werk häufig auftauchen.

Le blues s’est façonné dans les plantations du Sud des États-Unis. C’est dans cette musique mélancolique que les esclaves tentèrent d’apaiser quelque peu les souffrances d’une vie de misère. Le blues devient alors source de consolation. Parmi les éléments qui caractérisent ce genre musical, on trouve les blue notes, composantes fondatrices du style, qui apparaissent également dans cette composition de Roland Kernen.

The rhythm of the samba was originally created in Africa and brought to Brazil by the slaves . Here it became the national dance.
For every festive occasion and especially the carnival festivities (Rio de Janeiro) samba music is played.
The World's Fair in New York (1939) was the reason to the biggest spread of the samba.

The trumpet section gets an opportunity to feature in Ever so Samba.
Together with the swinging percussion section they let you enjoy a South American party.

Het ritme van de samba is oorspronkelijk ontstaan in Afrika, en door de negerslaven meegenomen naar Brazilië. Hier werd de samba de nationale dans.
Bij iedere feestelijke gebeurtenis en vooral tijdens de festiviteiten rond carnaval(Rio de Janeiro) wordt sambamuziek gespeeld en wordt er uitbundig op gedanst.
De wereldtentoonstelling in New York (1939) zorgde voor de grootste verspreiding van de samba.

De trompet-sectie krijgt in Ever so Sambade gelegenheid om eens lekker uit de bol te gaan.
Samen met het swingende slagwerk laten zij u genieten van een Zuid-Amerikaans feestje.

Der belgische Komponist Johan Nijs hat diesen Gefühlen mit dem Stück Millennium Fever stimmigen Ausdruck gegeben. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Feuerwerk bewegter Klänge, ein Zusammenspiel fiebernder Rhyhmen und unerwarteter Wendungen, worin verschiedene Instrumentengruppen miteinander dialogisiern.

Le passage au troisième millénaire avait généré une certaine inquiétude, de la curiosité et même un certain optimisme. Dans Millennium Fever (“La fièvre du millénaire”), les sentiments oscillants deviennent un puissant tourbillon. Les rythmes, l’éclat et l’intensité des sons, associés un choix de notes inhabituel, traduisent la fébrilité de l’attente tandis qu’un dialogue très expressif se crée entre les différents groupes d’instruments, comme un dialogue entre les peuples pour un monde de paix.

This song was written by David Foster, who has also penned many previous hits which have been performed and recorded by such artists as Céline Dion, Lionel Richie, Madonna and Michael Bublé. Because We Believe owes its fame to the performance by Andrea Bocelli during the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics held in Torino during 2006. Finish any concert with this great anthem and your audience will leave with a great feeling of well-being!

Andrea Bocelli en Marco Borsato hadden elkaar al meerdere malen ontmoet toen ze het plan opvatten om samen eens iets op te nemen. Begin 2006 zongen ze in Bocelli’s studio in Italië het prachtige duet Because We Believe in.Het nummer werd geschreven door David Foster, die al eerder verantwoordelijk was voor successen van andere wereldsterren, zoals Céline Dion, Lionel Richie, Madonna en Michael Bublé. Because We Believe dankt zijn bekendheidaan de solo-uitvoering door Andrea Bocelli tijdens de sluitingsceremonie van de Olympische Winterspelen in Turijn op 26 februari 2006. In verschillende Europese landen voerde dit nummer wekenlang de hitlijsten aan.

Because We Believe stammt aus der Feder von David Foster, der schon Hits für Weltstars wie Céline Dion, Lionel Richie, Madonna und Michael Bublé geschrieben hat.
