Holman created a beautifully layered piece, based on the Rhythm changes. This is one of the most popular charts in the entire Kenton Library. Solo space for alto, tenor, trombone and trumpet. Recorded on the Kenton Showcase LP in 1954. (This music is available from Mosaic Records in their Russo/Holman CD set.) 5-5-5-3.

This Bill Holman chart was written for the Maynard Ferguson Orchestra. It is recorded on Live at Peacock Lane and is a bright swing tune that features solos for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone and drums. It has a wonderful shout chorus, and an ending that will knock your socks off! It has been edited to include optional parts for a full band. If your rhythm section can burn, well, here it is! 5-4-4-3.

Your band will really swing with this tasty chart that lays right in the groove. Every section gets to play the melody while easy dorian solo changes over a blues style 12 bar format makes the open solo section approachable by any instrument in the band. The guitar helper part includes tablature and chord shape/performance suggestions. A written piano solo and optional vibes and vocal parts enhance the performance possibilities. Cool chart!

Bill Holman, well known for his solo features, originally arranged this iconic tenor saxophone feature, 'Out of Nowhere,' for Bill Perkins and the Stan Kenton Orchestra in the mid '50s. Set as an up-tempo swing, the tenor saxophone is featured throughout and has lots of solo space to make this tune its own. Combine that with a cookin' rhythm section and great swinging ensemble passages, this chart is really happening! This new Finale edition provides cleaner, more correct parts and is easier to read with better page turns. This 'pro' version is the original chart requiring 10-brass. Brass ranges are reasonable in both versions (highest note for trumpet is a written D). 5-5-5-3.
