The wind is cold, the branches bare, but hearts are warm and bright. Despite the chill of December, it'' all about hope, peace, and kindling kindness. As you'd expect from a round, a simple melody easily stacks into a complete choral texture. Even better, the conservative-range tune ensures a good fit for all voices. Groups of any age will master the canonic form and enjoy delivering the heartfelt, non-holiday message.

With its three-part settings for mixed choir, the Chor zu dritt series is aimed at the large number of choirs which cannot do fulljustice to the mainly four-part choral literature with its division in high and deep male voices.Complementing Vol. 5, O little Townof Bethlehem, the choir expert Wilfried Fischer continues his successful series with Christmas music in Vol. 6, Machet die Tore weit. Baroque cantata settings and motets for the Christmas season by renowned composers like Bach and Telemann were arranged for three-part choir, some with accompaniment. These arrangements enable choirs with a small number of male voices to sing even large-scale works in Christmas concerts. Content J.S. Bach: Gloria in excelsis Deo J.S. Bach: Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her Bach: Freut euch, liebe Christen all G.F. Handel: Halleluja G.P. Telemann; Wie schon leuchtet der Morgenstern G.P. Telemann: Ehre sei Gott in der Hohe D. Buxtehude: In dulci jubilo V. Lubeck: Willkommen, susser Brautigam A. Hammerschmidt: Machet die Tore weit A.M. Brunckhorst: Sollten wir uns heut' nicht freuen A.M. Brunckhorst: Ehre sei Gott in der Hohe W.C. Briegel: Stimmet Hosianna an P.F. Buchner: O, welch ein Jubel H. Schutz: Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt H. Sara Teasdale was a celebrated American poet who lived at the turn of the twentieth century, known for her classical style and pure, openhearted writing. At the young age of twenty-three, she became a published author and went on to release a total of eight award-winning collections of poetry in her lifetime. Love-Free is a reflective poem that appears in Part I of Rivers to the Sea, published in 1915. In the text, the narrator experiences a range of emotions centering around lost love and the desire to either separate from or rekindle it. Reminiscent of an antique music box, the text is paired with a waltz-like accompaniment in a lilting 3/4 pattern. Melodic exploration of the natural minor scale is achieved through mostly step-wise motion and some carefully placed, text-painted leaps ranging from a minor third to a sixth. With some unison, SA, and SSA sections, this piece can show off the wide array of colors and textures available to treble choirs.Sara Teasdale was a celebrated American poet who lived at the turn of the twentieth century, known for her classical style and pure, openhearted writing. A blast from the past with a message built to last! This song of hope and love originated as the 1970s Coca-Cola jingle, considered one of the best-loved and most influential ads in TV history. It's a catchy anthem with a rock-side-to-side hook, a bubbly tune, and a few delightful counterlines. Universal themes of music and world harmony fit well on many programs---school, community, winter, spring, pop, pyramid, and more. SoundTrax and SoundPax accompaniment options are available.

Phillip Neil Martin 's Human Drum for three voices (SSA). Duration: 3 minutes Composed: 2006 Also published as part of UYMP's Songspin Songbook, ISMN M 57036 603 3. Human Drum was a collaboration with the Juice Vocal Ensemble. The piece began in the recording studio where I recorded Juice singing notated fragments I’d popped together and also their own improvisations. I then edited and cut up all the audio into very tiny fragments in a myriad of ways to make a short rhythm-based electronic 3 part vocal piece. This forms part of my larger work Voices of the Asylum for voices, human beatbox, electronics, fashion and space. The final track bares very little resemblance to theoriginal recording studio session. Several weeks after I had finished Human Drum Juice asked me to transcribe the audio so they could sing the piece live (which wasn’t easy to do after all the cutting and processing!), therefore coming full circle! There are now two versions of Human Drum , the studio electronic track and the ‘live’ notated version. Human Drum is dedicated to the Juice Vocal Ensemble with affection. First performed by Juice Vocal Ensemble on 3rd May 2007 at York Spring Festival, Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, University of York.

Ed has written a cantor, choir, and assembly-friendly setting of the Sequence for Pentecost using the approved text from The Roman Missal. The stepwise motion of the lyrical melody facilitates a quick learn. The piece begins in D major for the first four verses, modulates to E for the next three verses, moves to F for verses 8 and 9, and concludes with the final verse in G. The interval relationships are the same with each modulation, highlighting the words and adding a sense of urgency. The octavo includes a keyboard part, but you will note that this can be performed with just a simple guitar accompaniment. And, guitar pages are included in the octavo.

Victor's arrangement of this gentle nativity carol from Spain is sung entirely in the original language (a pronunciation and translation are included). This sensitive treatment captures the lullaby mood and adds a light rhythmic undercurrent in moderate 3/4 time. The tonality shifts seamlessly between D minor and D major to reflect a text that moves from quieting the baby to a rushing fountain and singing birds. While the words do return, no two verses are set in the same manner, creating an ever-evolving arrangement. Piano fingers dance over the keys with triplet turns and easily grasp the bigger chords in the supportive and stylistic accompaniment. A nice contrast on holiday programs.

From Trans-Siberian Orchestra's triple platinum album, Christmas Eve and Other Stories, this respectful treatment of Pachelbel's Canon features patterned vocal parts that can be quickly taught and layered. The four-hand piano accompaniment is for two players at one piano, but is not difficult to play. Combine with Bob Phillips' string orchestra arrangement or the classical sounding SoundTrax CD. A highlight for any holiday concert!

This text is taken from the Dies Irae Sequence from the Requiem Mass. It is a contemplation of the arrival of judgment day. The A-sections, mm. 1-29 & mm. 43-end, are a manic depiction of the fierce wrath of judgment day. They should be sung with fire, crisp consonants while always enunciating the accents in order to realize the full effect of this powerful text. The entire demeanor of the tone and facial expressions should change for the B-section, mm. 30-42 as it is a plea for mercy. The audience should realize the change in this contrasting section. Translation Dies irae, dies illa: Day of wrath, that day Solvet saeclum in favilla: shall dissolve the world into embers Teste David cum Sibylla: As David prophesied with the Sibyl. Voca me cum benedictis :Call me to be with the blessed. Salva me fons pietatis : Save me, fount of pity. The Sibyl is a reference from a Greek word, which means Prophetess. In this context, the word appears in plural, referring to many prophetesses. David, or King David, has long been considered prophetic among biblical scholars. About the Arranger D.
