The Four Quiet Voluntaries include a sprightly allegretto, a lyrical air, a lilting pastorale and variation and a theme on an Irish air. They fall within the abilities of moderately accomplished musicians.Eric Thiman was a 20th century composer, teacher and Organist who was also an advocate of amateur music-making. Hymn preludes and choral arrangements by Bendt Fabricus (2018). Foreword: This small collection of preludes and choral arrangements is a selection of movements, created through more than 30 years of work as an organist in the Danish National Church. The collectionis first and foremost intended as a useful work tool for all my colleagues around the Danish organ benches. There are movements thatare suitable for the small one-manual organ in the village church and others that are intended for the concert organ in the large city church. Some movements are easy to follow, even with a simple and traditionally constructed structure, while others, both harmonious and rhythmic, offer greater complexity and degree of difficulty. Virtually all the kits composed for two manuals and pedal can also be realized on organs that have only one manual and pedal. As far as registration instructions are concerned, my statements are only intended as a guide to the sonorous expression in a given movement, as of course everyone is free to find exactly the registration that is deemed appropriate on the instrument in question. It is my wish that all organists can benefit fromthe collection and that it will prove to be a useful and beneficial supplement in the daily work. Bendt Fabricius.

Robert Saxton 's Passacaglia On The Name John McCabe for Organ. Commissioned by George Vass for a concert in celebration of the life and work of John McCabe CBE. First performed in Faversham Church, Kent, on 28th June 2015 by Edward Kemp-Luck. Duration: 6 mins ca. A review in the June 2016 edition of Organist's Review calls this piece a beautifully produced work that features the pleasing disorientation of false relations and is as inventive as it is impressive. A similarly glowing review in the August-October edtion of The Organ magazine calls this piece a very impressive short work indeed; brilliantly imagines and written for the instrument...one can only urge thismusic on all recital organists - it is a splendid piece, and would surely make a counterpart to an original McCabe organ work in the same programme - the Johannes-Partita , especially.

A major addition to the repertoire of transcriptions for organ, the whole suite or any one of the movements will delight performers and audiences alike. Vaughan Williams's original score for military band of 1923 (orchestrated by Gordon Jacob the following year) was a milestone in the introduction of English folk song to the classical repertory which both he and his friend Holst championed. Over its three contrasting movements (two marches separated by an intermezzo) no fewer than nine folk songs are presented, in both lively and emotive style. Greg Morris, organist at London's Temple Church, has deftly arranged the suite, providing generic registration suggestions for a romantic instrument, but in the hands of imaginative players the score will readily transfer to organs of most styles and eras.

Lemare's compositions are uneven in quality, but the best are still active in the repertoire. The Toccata di Concerto is certainly full of fireworks and has the capacity to show the abilities of a great Organ. The upper parts have plenty of French toccata style, but the theme in the pedals gives the piece substance, as does the romantic, chromatic interlude in the middle of the work.Organ virtuoso and composer Edwin Lemare was the world's highest-paid Organist at the height of his career in the early 1900's, drawing bravos from ctritics and the crowds who queued around the block to hear this most famous of Organists. After having served as a church Organist for a relativelyshort period, he began the life of a travelling recitalist, beginning with a hundred-recital tour of the USA and Canada in 1900, a career that continued until the stock market crash of 1929. Lemare was also virtuosic in his ability to transcribe great Orchestral works for the Organ, allowing audiences in those less urban times to hear works played live that they might have heard no other way.

Prelude On Lasst Uns Erfreuen is a work by renowned contemporary composer Nico Muhly , for Organ. Lasting around 6 minutes, it was composed in 2007. The composition was dedicated to Alison Shafer, commemorating 25 years of service for Christian Lane and the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, Frederick, Maryland. In the September/October 2015 issue of Choir & Organ, Stephen Farr writes that this work applies a variety of motivic treatments, and a corresponding variety of rhythmic twists, to the well-known melody...would be effective in either concert or liturgical contexts.
