Each booklet contains chronological charts, historical and technical details, together with photographs, as well as considering the instrument from ans aesthetic point of view. We have tried to make this collection thoroughly pratical one, deliberately limiting the format, and providing texts in four language ( French, English, German and Japenese ) aiming for maximum clarity. These individual studies should be helpful to musicians, musicologists, historians, instrument makers and enthusiasts. The history. Description. Tuning and temperament. Aesthetic consideration. The Anhang of Köchel’s catalogue is full of pieces that for more than a century after his death were thought to be his work; the Müller sonata, a very effective piece on both fortepiano and clavichord, is still suspected of containing some elements of original Mozart in it, and deserves to be rescued from oblivion in this Mozart anniversary year.

The fourth volume of the section of the Reger Edition devoted to his organ works comprises, in chronological order, the chorale preludes composed between October 1893 and November 1914 in Wiesbaden, Weiden, Munich, Leipzig, and Meiningen. The composition of chorale preludes accompanied Reger throughout his entire career, even though they were composed primarily in the years from 1900 to 1902 and 1914 (Opus 135a). As almost no other composer at the turn of the century, he dedicated himself to the chorale prelude, composing around 100 works in this genre. Carl Fasch was notoriously reluctant to have his music made public and even asked that much of it should be destroyed. What remains, however, supports the view of the contemporary writer on music Johann Reichardt that Fasch was the true successor to C. P. E. Bach, with whom he shared keyboard duties for Frederick the Great. In this first volume of his complete keyboard works, the six sonatas, which appeared in print and were well regarded during the composer's lifetime, show him to be a minor master and an eloquent advocate for the eclectic expressive style then current in Berlin.
