It is true that tastes differ.
Coffee has known a long history : it has been drunk since the 17th century. On one hand people drink coffee for relaxation, on the other hand it is drunk to ward off tiredness or sleepiness.
‘Strong Coffee’ composed by Ron Gilmore works both ways. There will be people who will be able to relax during ‘Strong Coffee’, whereas others will experience it as a real boost. Is it a bit too strong after all, such a funky Soul Beat? Then adding a little milk might help.

Koffie kent een lange geschiedenis. Al sinds de 17e eeuw wordt deze drank genuttigd. Enerzijds wordt koffie gedronken voor de gezelligheid, anderzijds wordt koffie gebruikt als middel om vermoeidheidof slaperigheid weg te drinken.
Met ‘Strong Coffee’ van Ron Gilmore kunt u beide kanten op. Er zullen mensen zijn die bij Strong Coffee even bijkomen, voor de ander is het een echte opkikker. Is het toch een beetje te sterk,zo’n lekkere Soul Beat? Een scheutje melk helpt.
Smaken verschillen nu eenmaal.

This volume brings together Mozart's youthful attempts at this later so central genre of the string quartet: the astonishing “Lodi Quartet” K. 80 by the only fourteen-year-old composer, the three “Quartet-Divertimenti” K. 136-138 which are also readily played by chamber orchestras, and Mozart's first true string-quartet cycle K. 155-160 which was composed during his third (north-)Italian journey in 1772/73. Mozart's cleanly written scores of all the compositions have been preserved so that the edition stands on a secure foundation. In his informative commentary, Wolf-Dieter Seiffert, the experienced Mozart editor at G. Henle Publishers, devotes a separate, comprehensive explanatory section to the well-known articulation problem “dot or wedge.” The Armida Quartet provided artistic input for this edition.

The present Concertino in E-flat major , Op. 5, was composed especially for the Leipzig trombone virtuoso Carl Traugott Queisser (1800-1846), to whom the work is also dedicated. The Concertino was first reviewed by the critic Gottfried Wilhelm Fink (1783-1846) in the Leipzig Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung (AMZ), issue no. 38, September 1832. The critic discussed the work in detail, calling it a milestone of the trombone literature, ... its public performance should thus be determined by only true masters. The rest, however, may wish to utilize it, in silence, that is not overheard by expectant listeners, to strive with it to strengthen their powers.... The Concertino 's premiere can be dated to 1828, with Queisser himself as soloist, and the composer conducting. Queisser repeatedly performed the Concertino up to 1843. The work was published under catalogue number 5227 in 1832 by Breitkopf & Hartel. Sometime in the 1940s the work was lost to sight and no performances known to come from then. Together with the Concertino , Op. 4, later composed by Ferdinand David, Muller's contribution to this genre is among the most often played and most demanding of the trombone literature. Home on the Range is gebaseerd op een gedicht (‘My Western Home’ uit 1872) van Brewster Higley, een arts uit Indiana die een jaar daarvoor een stukje land had gekocht in Kansas. Vervolgens schreef Dean Kelley er een melodie bij -het nieuwe lied werd al snel geliefd onder migranten in de Verenigde Staten. In de loop der jaren werd het steeds bekender, het is uitgevoerd door vele artiesten, onder wie Frank Sinatra. In 1947 werd Home on the Range hetofficiële lied van de staat Kansas. Brewster Higleys omschrijving van een helderblauwe hemel, oneindige vergezichten en een overvloedige fauna vindt met deze muziek nog altijd weerklank bij luisteraars.

Home on the Range est une ancienne mélodie country qui plonge ses racines dans l’Amérique de l’Ouest. Cette mélodie a récemment fait le tour de monde, après avoir été intégrée dans la bande originale du film d’animation La ferme se rebelle produit par les studios Disney. Bryan Kidd en a réalisé une version très créative avec des harmonies surprenantes et des lignes expressives. Une composition fun et divertissante.
