With his Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny), inspired by a text by Friedrich Holderlin, Brahms created a timeless piece of music with his personal interpretation of the idea of destiny. The work is impressive both in the concert hall and in a sacred space. With the publication of this arrangement for chamber orchestra, smaller choirs now have the opportunity of performing this work too. The scoring (for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, timpani, and strings) is identical with the chamber orchestra version of the German Requiem (Carus 27.055/50), so that the two works can easily be combined in a concert program. A trumpet and trombone can be added ad libitum. The choral parts match the original version, so that the vocal score and choral score from that version can be used. De Braziliaanse componist Antônio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994) schreef een aantal heuse standards,. Naohiro Iwai arrangeerde Desafinado voor harmonieorkest.

Lieder wie The Girl from Ipanema oder eben Desafinado haben den brasilianischen Pianisten und Komponisten Antonio Carlos Jobim weltberühmt gemacht und sind mittlerweile Jazz-Standards, die in einem Atemzug mit Titeln von GeorgeGershwin, Cole Porter und Irving Berlin genannt werden. Die bekannteste Interpretation von Desafinado - was soviel wie schräg klingend“ heißt - ist sicherlich die des Saxophonisten Stan Getz. Naohiro Iwai schrieb diese gelungeneBlasorchesterbearbeitung des Latin-Jazz-Klassikers.

Avec Vicinius de Moraes et João Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994) est considéré comme le père de la bossa nova, un style musical qui se caractérise par un souple balancement et qui évolue sur les rythmes de la samba brésilienne. Carlos Jobim a composé de nombreuses chansons qui sont devenues la fois des classiques de la musique populaire brésilienne et du jazz : Corcovado, Chega de Saudade, The Girl From Ipanema et Desafinado (1959) qui connut un succès planétaire.

Iovanni Vitali's set of twelve sonatas Op. 5 for various combinations of strings and continuo, published in 1669, was the Bolognese composer's most ambitious collection of chamber music to date. He most likely wrote it as an application piece for membership of the prestigious Accademia Filarmonica, for each sonata has a dedicatory subtitle bearing the name of one of the city's noblemen. This third volume contains three works – the sonatas for two violins, viola, violone and organ/harpsichord continuo.
