Giuseppe Verdi's Te Deum for double choir and large orchestra is the most frequently performed work of his Quattro pezzi sacri; composed in 1895/96, the Te Deum was his next to last work. Verdi came to terms intensively and in a very personal manner with the text of the Ambrosian hymn of praise. In a compact formal structure a broad range of styles unfolds, from the monodic beginning in Gregorian chant via large dramatic effects to the soft, doubtful dying away of the conclusion. The work is now published for the first time in a critical edition. Also available in the series Choir & organ. Score available separately - see item CA.2719400.

The Stabat Mater is the last work composed by Giuseppe Verdi. He completed it in 1897 at the age of 84. One year later it was published with the somewhat earlier Te Deum as part of the Quattro pezzi sacri. Verdi set Mary's meditation in the face of her crucified son, a classic of Medieval Latin poetry, in an operatically expressive style for choir and large orchestra. Verdi's Stabat Mater is now published for the first time in a critical edition. Also available in the series Choir & organ. Score available separately - see item CA.2729400.

The first performance of this cantata, which belongs to Bach's third annual cycle of cantatas, took place on the 2nd day of Christmas in 1725. With the exception of the closing chorale, with a text from 1711 by Georg Christian Lehms, the text of the cantata refers to St. Stephan, the first martyr of the New Testament and patron saint whose name day occurs on 26 December. In a dialog between the Soul (Soprano) and Jesus (bass) the struggle with sin is recounted respectively in two expressive arias arias. The entire orchestra is involved in the first movement as well as in in the closing chorale together with the choir. Score available separately - see item CA.3105700.

A Christmas celebration for SATB choirs This gospel-flavored musical reflects on the promise of peace delivered by the angels on the night of Jesus' birth. The iconic ballad, Let There Be Peace on Earth is used as musical bookends: its theme is briefly stated in the second movement and then returns in full-blown gospel style at the end to provide an emotion-filled climax. In between, the Christmas story is told through scriptural narration and six beloved carols set in a variety of styles ranging from jazz, to gospel, to calypso. Accompaniment can be provided by piano, full orchestra, or a smaller set of rhythm parts, arranged by Ed Hogan. Performance time is 35 minutes.
