Chamber Music Violin, cello, Piano SKU: PR.114418250 Composed by Stacy Garrop. Contemporary. Set of Score and Parts. With Standard notation. Composed 2013. 40+16+16 pages. Duration 23 minutes. Theodore Presser Company #114-41825. Published by Theodore Presser Company (PR.114418250). UPC: 680160640959. 9 x 12 inches. In 2011, Barbara Garrop, my mother, commissioned me to write a piano trio in memory of Norman Garrop, my father, who passed away about thirty years ago. When I started brainstorming about topics for the piece, I found it difficult to recall many moments of my early life involving my father. Too many years had passed, and the memories that I could summon were of achild looking up to her father, not an adult relating to an equal. However, while collecting stories of my father from various family members, along with discovering a number of objects that had once belonged to him and that I had stored away in boxes decades ago, I began to realize that this piece wasn't so much about my father as it was about my re-discovering the man that he was: a loving husband and dad who cared deeply about his family and his passions (which included bike riding, collecting coins, strumming our guitar, playing baseball, watching football games, entertaining people, helping to run local theater and puppet productions, and carving objects out of wook); an accountant who dreamed of a better future: a treasurer of our local synagogue; an early advocate for computers (we owned an Apple II+); and a pranster with a great sense of humor. Ultimately, I decided to musically tell the story of my search for these memories. In the first movement (Without), a child calls out in a sing-song voice, searching for her lost parent. This search intesifies over the course of the movement through a series of themes, including a stepping motif in which a two-note progression steadily climbs higher, a pseudo-jewish folksong, and a passionate longing theme. The child's search becomes increasingly intense throughout the movement, calling out fervently and repeatedly to the parent; the movement ends in a moment of great tnesion and uncertainty. The second movment (Within) quietly opens with the lost parent finally answering, represented by a solo cello; the child (now personified by the violin) has found the parent within the sanctuary of her own heart. This movement highlights the joy and solemnity of this beautiful discovery. -S.G. $43.99 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

| Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 49 Piano Trio: piano, violin, cello G. Henle
Set of Parts Cello; Chamber Music; Piano Accompaniment; Violin (Ensemble) SKU...(+)
Set of Parts Cello; Chamber Music; Piano Accompaniment; Violin (Ensemble) SKU: HL.51481531 Set of Parts for Violin, Cello and Piano. Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Henle Music Folios. Classical. Softcover. 84 pages. G. Henle #HN1531. Published by G. Henle (HL.51481531). UPC: 840126989311. 9.25x12.25x0.361 inches. Mendelssohn is considered a self-critical composer, who repeatedly reworked a number of his pieces until he deemed them worthy to be published. The path to his first Piano Trio was particularly rocky: only after several attempts was he able to complete it in the summer of 1839; it appeared in 1840 after further revisions. This perfectionism paid off, for Mendelssohn's D Minor Trio was immediately received with enthusiasm. Robert Schumann wrote: “It is the master trio of the present day, like those of Beethoven in Bb and D and that of Franz Schubert in Eb were in their time; a very beautiful composition which after years will still delight grandchildren and great-grandchildren.†Which was to prove true: even today, it numbers among the most popular works in the trio repertoire in general. The trio, taken from the volume Mendelssohn • Piano Trios HN 957, is now available from Henle for the first time also as a practical single edition. | Fantasy Pieces Op. 88 for Piano Trio Piano Trio: piano, violin, cello G. Henle
Piano Trio (Ensemble) SKU: HL.51481525 Composed by Robert Schumann. Edite...(+)
Piano Trio (Ensemble) SKU: HL.51481525 Composed by Robert Schumann. Edited by Ernst Herttrich. Henle Music Folios. Classical. Softcover. 80 pages. G. Henle #HN1525. Published by G. Henle (HL.51481525). UPC: 840126989762. 9.0x12.0x0.296 inches. The Fantasy Pieces op. 88 are Schumann's first contribution to the genre of the piano trio and date from his very prolific “chamber music year†1842. However, Schumann needed an unusually long time to give the work its final form: the Fantasy Pieces were released only in the autumn of 1850 after several revisions. The brevity and the modest technical demands of the four charming character pieces make them an ideal entry into the world of Schumann's chamber music also for non-professional musicians. The Fantasy Pieces, taken from the volume Schumann • Piano Trios HN 916, are now available from Henle for the first time also as a practical single edition. The only work still known today by Noack, 'Heinzelmannchens Wachtparade' [Parade of the Brownies] Op. 5 was called a 'character piece' by the composer himself, and this 'marche en miniature' conveys wit and good humour from the beginning; you can immediately imagine a picture of the brownies tripping along! The second part of the trio offers an ironical and very effectie ending with its enticing harmonies and surprising effects. $23.99 - See more - Buy online
