Powerful sound and projection at all volume levels. Canopus Back Beat snare wires have been developed to emphasize the back-beat - especially in high volume situations where the snare sound may feel like it is being buried by other instruments. Maintaining these qualities of the standard Canopus Back Beat wires, they have developed the extra wide 42-strand snare wire - which allows the drummer to play comfortably, without straining, while delivering a full, pleasing snare back-beat at all volume levels. They have eliminated 2 common problems of other wide snares: 1) Canopus 42-strand snare wires do not mute the resonance and response of the drum. 2) They have controlled the indistinct sound created by excess snare buzz. Furthermore, the 42-strand snare uses high quality nickel plated wires which highlight every nuance of sound and vibration and yet have a controlled response and sustain. Enjoy the open, powerful and responsive sound.

The Liber Secundus Sacrarum Cantionum appeared in November 1591, and was printed, like its predecessor, by Thomas East. Biblical and liturgical sources provided texts for its 21 motets, most of them sombre in tone. The noted scholar Joseph Kerman has observed that in these pieces, Byrd may have been voicing 'prayers, exhortations and protests on behalf of the English Roman Catholic community'.

Alexander Zemlinsky's music was long unjustly overshadowed by what was regarded as the “more progressive†Second Viennese School. Although Zemlinsky was close friends with its protagonist Arnold Schönberg, he never did take the latter's radical step into dodecaphony. At the same time, he composed works that were no less original or fully fledged. Composed between 1913 and 1915, his Second String Quartet in particular pushed the contemporaneous understanding of form and tonality to its limits. With just one movement but spanning over 1,200 measures, this multi-faceted work numbers among the most significant contributions to the genre of the time and has long merited a critical new edition. The Urtext edition by G. Henle Publishers corrects many errors and inaccuracies in the first edition that came to light after careful comparison with the autograph sources in Vienna and Washington. For the first time, too, the metronome markings that survive only in one of Zemlinsky's letters have been incorporated. Editorial work was kindly supported by the Alexander Zemlinsky Endowment Fund in Vienna.

Text language: German. Text: Schiller, Friedrich.
It's about 200 years since Beethoven scribbled down a theme in D minor in his sketch book, which he later used, slightly altered, in the 2nd movement of his 9th Symphony. Beethoven had thought of setting Schiller's Ode to Joy much earlier. As early as 1803 Ferdinand Ries mentioned a complete setting of the text by Beethoven which no longer survives. The vocal score of the finale of the 9th Symphony is based on the vocal score made by Carl Reinecke around the end of the 19th century. The version by Reinecke, popular worldwide, closely reflects the sound of the orchestral writing, yet at the same time is remains playable. Stefan Schuck has revised this historic vocal score, in the process taking into account recent research findings. The new Carus vocal score contains rehearsal letters from all current versions of the orchestral material, and is thus compatible with all available music editions. In the presentation of this edition, particular attention has been paid to the practical needs of (choral) singers and repetiteurs.

On September 19th, 1991, a mummified corps of a man was found at the Similaun glacier in the Otztaler Alps. The glacier unveiled an early man after 5300 years, with all his personal belongings. His clothes and weapons were fairly well preserved and allow us today a deeper insight into that period. Austrian nature filmmaker Kurt Mu ndel reconstructed the life of this man and made a film, which, based on facts, shows how it might have been then. Otto M. Schwarz used this documentary as an opportunity to write a work for symphonic wind band and musically resurrect the Man in the Ice..
