Rob Goorhuis schreef zijn klarinetconcert in 2006-2007 voor de klarinettist Daan Kuiper. De compositie heeft een klassieke indeling. Het eerste deel in de sonatevorm presenteert twee contrasterende thema's, die op een fantasierijkewijze tegen elkaar worden uitgespeeld. Diverse solo-instrumenten vervullen daarbij een prominente rol. Daarbij valt op dat doorwerkingselementen al in de expositie gestalte krijgen. Het rustige tweede deel is een variatievormin een zangerig stijl. Het doet denken aan een canzona. Het ongecompliceerde laatste deel is een rondo. Het luchtige karakter daarvan wordt onderstreept door de pittige ritmiek.

Due to the middle movement full ofdivine power, this string quartet is certainly one of Beethoven's most emotional compositions.For this new edition of the Quartet op. 132, Beethoven specialist Jonathan Del Mar consulted the autograph as well as several sets of parts corrected by Beethoven, enabling him to correct countless inconsistencies and unconvincing editorial decisions of previous editions.
