Wagner took the title of Under the Double Eagle – his opus 159, composed in 1902 – from the state emblem of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This march has been extremely popular for over a century and exists in over fifty different instrumental and vocal arrangements. The march became a favorite of John Philip Sousa, who recorded it three times. The piece is now the official regimental march of the 1st Austrian Artillery Regiment Number Two.
