SBar vocal soli, SATB voices (with divisi voices), oboe, temple blocks, timpani, organ, 3 dancers SKU: CA.1905400 Composed by Thomas Gabriel. This edition: Paperbound. Contemporary Choir Music. German title: Der Kreuzweg (+ Cd). Sacred vocal music, Lent and Passiontide. Full score. Composed 2005. 36 pages. Duration 60 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 19.054/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.1905400). ISBN 9790007140120. Language: German. The Stations of the Cross are a centuries-old element in worship services which are firmly anchored in the visual arts. There is hardly a Catholic church which does not include a representation of the via dolorosa in its interior design. Thus it is all the more astonishing that this subject is not nearly so widely portrayed in music. Franz Liszt (Via crucis) and Marcel Dupre, with his ingenious improvisation which later became a composition, are practically the only representatives of this genre of composition in music history. The present work for a cappella choir, three dancers, timpani, baritone and soprano soloists, oboe and organ offers a new approach to the literary model of the Stations of the Cross. The emphasis rests with the choir, which is responsible for six Stations of the Cross. Here, in part, the stations are assigned associative text from poetry (e.g., Christian Morgenstern and Michelangelo). Three dancers dance the three Stations of falling in a setting filled with black light, accompanied by a speech motet provided on CD. The organ appears in a solo capacity and as an accompaniment to the solo singers. The timpani announce the horror of death by crucifixion. Together this collage-like work forms a magnificent whole. The duration is 60 minutes. $40.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Soli SATB, Coro SATB, 2 Pfte, Timp ad lib SKU: CA.2719044 Arrangement for soli, choir, 2 pianos and timpani ad lib (arr. S. Bartmann). Composed by Anton Bruckner. Arranged by Sebastian Bartmann. Gattungen vokal: Sacred vocal music. Full Score. WAB 45. Duration 25 minutes. Carus Verlag #2719044. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2719044). ISBN 9790007303327. Latin. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, transcriptions of large (choral) symphonic works for two pianos were extremely popular: They enabled a large audience to get to know classical compositions in an age before recorded music. In many cases, world-famous works were first performed in such a version ââ¬â including Brucknerââ¬â¢s Te Deum. Unfortunately, only a few bars of this transcription have survived. The Stuttgart composer, pianist and experienced piano-duo performer Sebastian Bartmann was commissioned by the Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend in Baden-Württemberg Ochsenhausen to newly arrange Brucknerââ¬â¢s Te Deum and the Mass in D minor for soloists, choir and two pianos. A timpani part (ad libitum) provides additional color. The arrangements are based on the original Carus editions. The vocal scores and choral scores of the original version can also be used.Today the Te Deum is Brucknerââ¬â¢s most frequently performed vocal work. The greatest challenges for any choir are the high register and the enormous orchestration of this extremely effective piece: The singers are often required to declaim against a large orchestra performing forte fortissimo! This problem is resolved in the arrangement for two pianos; moreover, the scaling back of the sonic forces helps reveal compositional structures that otherwise can all too easily get lost in the intoxicating orchestral sound.. Here, as also in his earlier Litte Credo Mass KV 192, Mozart made use of a church music device which can be traced back in south-German and Austrian church music to the beginning of the 18th century: frequent repetition of the opening words of the Credo. This presupposes that the setting of the words of the intonation Credo in unum Deum as part of an ensemble composition, which for centuries had been intoned in plainsong by the priest, had become liturgically acceptable. It was only a small and syntactically logical step for the word Credo to be repeated before the individual articles of belief, thus strengthening the declaration of faith. Eberlin's programmatic setting of the offertory Terra tremuit was written for the festive liturgy of Easter Sunday at Salzburg Cathedral, which in the 17th and 18th centuries was a center of the cultivation of the polyphonic offertory. Verses 9 and 10 of Psalm 76 (Vulgata 75), with their vivid description of the earth trembling and falling silent are Eberlin's basis for the offertory. Eberlin depicts the earthquake by means of a written-out tremolo of the strings, and by staccato singing of the syllables of the word tremuit. The Resurrection is depicted musically by ascending figures at the words dum resurgere. An Alleluia concludes the work. $26.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Orchestra SATB vocal soli, SATB choir, 2 oboes, 2 clarinos/trumpets, 3 trombones, timpani, 2 violins, basso continuo SKU: CA.4061607 Grosse Credomesse. Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Mathias Siedel. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Mozart. German title: Missa In C (Credo-Messe) Kv 257 Rev.2003. Sacred vocal music, Masses, Latin. Study score. Composed 1775-1777. KV 257. 76 pages. Duration 27 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 40.616/07. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.4061607). ISBN 9790007073862. Key: C major. Language: Latin.
