Judith Weir's Night is a work for Violin and Cello. Commissioned by Enterprise Music Scotland Night was written for High Heels and Horse Hair - comprised of Alice Rickards (Violin) andSonia Cromarty (Cello) who gave the first performance on 3rd November 2015 at Cottiers Theatre in Glasgow. Please note this item comes with two scores - one for the violinist and another for thecellist. Night was written for a late evening concert which aimed to use lighting design to explore aspects of life in the dark in three distinct but interrelated parts - NightMenagerie Night Anxiety and Late Night Radio.

The Piano Trio Two is inspired by three Zen koans which have lent their titles to the movements ‘How Grass and Trees Become Enlightened ’ ‘Your Light May Go Out ’ and ‘Open Your Own Treasure House.’ Yet themusic is drawn from English folk tune and Weir’s own songs and imaginary ragas. Judith Weir is one of Britain’s most prolific and successful composers widely known for her operas like The Vanishing Bridegroomand A Night At The Chinese Opera and her many Choral works as well as her pieces for Strings and Piano. She was Artistic Director of the Spitalfields Festival and is a professor at Cardiff University. Her work is often inspiredby narrative folklore and theatre.
