French composer Alfred Désenclos (1912-1971) described his music as romantic. His music is expressive and atmospheric as heard in his Plain-Chant Et Allegretto for Trombone and Piano. Désenclos studied at the Roubaix Conservatory and he won the 1942 Prix de Rome. His Plain-Chant Et Allegretto was published in 1965 towards the end of the composer's life. A typical performance lasts around eight minutes in which the Trombone solo line is enhanced by rhythm and technique. As expected the two movements are contrasting suitable for the advanced trombonist. Composed by Sigismond Stojowski  Fantaisie Op.38 is a piece for Trombone and Piano. This lyrical piece published in 1912 is very melodic and would require advanced skills and technique to perform it perfectly. This piece is one of the first he wrote after moving to the USA. Comparable to Chopin?s 'Fantasy' even though Stojowski?s seems better-written and more virtuous. A transcription exists for Viola and other instruments. Sigismond Stojowski is a Polish pianist composer and conductor who studied at the Paris Conservatoire. He was a good friend of Tchaikovsky and workedas a Piano soloist in the USA with the Boston and the San Francisco Symphony as well as the New York Philharmonic among others.

Concerto In F Minor by G.F. Handel is a piece transcribed for Trombone and Piano by André Lafosse soloist at the Paris Opera. Quite difficult for it to be played well this piece will require the skills and abilities of advanced players. This concerto is a really melodious piece to play in recitals. It is divided into four sections: I. Grave II. Allegro III. Sarabande – Largo IV. Allegro The Piano introduces first and the third parts which are quite slow compared to the second one and the final. G.F. Handel was a German composer famous for his operas oratorios and concertos.

Composed by Joseph Edouard Barat Andante Et Allegro is a piece for Trombone and Piano dedicated to H. Couillaud a Conservatoire professor. Quite difficult this piece would be perfect for recitals and contest and can be played by advanced players. Starting slowly the first half of the piece evolves into a Piu vivo part. The second half of the work is a rapid Allegro theme (tempo 144-152) followed by a slower part and the Allegro theme played again “a tempo” before introducing the close in harmonies. Joseph Edouard Barat (1882-1963) composed numerous pieces for Wind instruments and Pianoaccompaniment such as 'Andante and Allegro' or 'Introduction and Dance' among many others.

French pianist arranger composer and conductor Jean-Michel Defaye (b. 1932) entered the Paris Conservatoire at the mere age of ten years old. His successful compositions and arrangements were mainly for brass   À La Manière De Vivaldi composed in 2002 for Trombone and Piano being no exception. With a typical performance lasting about four minutes Defaye's  À La Manière De Vivaldi reflects the compositional techniques of Antonio Vivaldi by use of contrapuntal textures modulations to related keys long and even quaverand semiquaver melodic passages syncopation and contrasts in dynamics. To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains one of the most prolific composers for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. His Hommage A Bach for Trombone and Piano is an exquisite addition to the repertoire. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. Composed in 1957 Bozza's Hommage A Bach reflects thecomposer's admiration of the great J. S. Bach. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza's compositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistently sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.'
