Even in the unusual at first glance occupation, the spirit of the known and trend-setting orchestral work is preserved. Although thepiece does not directly offer the opportunity for a solo performance of the clarinet, wonderful symphonic possibilities result, which arranger Sebastian Gottschick translates from the rich original score as faithfully as possible into this version. Includes score and parts.

Minimax was premiered in 1923 in the original version for string quartet at the Donaueschinger Musiktage and edited in 2014 by Christoph Enzel for saxophone quartet. The 6 parodies of military music perfectly match the saxophone, the wit and spirit of the compositions can be transferred without restriction. Some coarseness works almost better on the saxophone than in the original.

The subtitle 'For a young elephant' of 'Circus Polka' composed by Stravinsky is due to the piece's original use as music for a ballet performance with 50 elephants and the same number of ballerinas. The effective and inventive composition ranks among the modern classics of the 20th century and is presented here in arrangements for saxophone quartet or saxophone ensemble.

The Catalan composer and vihuela player Luis de Milan (1500-1561) ranks among the most important composers of the Spanish Renaissance. His collection El Maestro from 1536 was the first publication of vihuela music in music history (the vihuela is a predecessor of the guitar). The six pavans contained therein are typical examples of the stately processional dance. According to the etymological derivation of'pavo' (Spanish/Latin: 'peacock'), this characteristic bird call which can be performed freely and naturalistically by the saxophoneplayer can sometimes be heard in this 'peacock's dance'. World premiere: 15.2.2017 Ballhaus Berlin, with Domiki Wollenweber (cor anglais) and the saxophone quartet CLAIR OBSCUR. Also published by Schott: a version for alto saxophone (cor anglais) and organ (ED 21260).
