The six pavans contained therein are typical examples of the stately processional dance. According to the etymological derivation of'pavo' (Spanish/Latin: 'peacock'), this characteristic bird call which can be performed freely and naturalistically by the saxophoneplayer can sometimes be heard in this 'peacock's dance'.
