In diesem Satz leben auch Erinnerungen an zwei Reisen nach Irland auf, die tiefe Eindrücke in mir hinterließen. Die diesbezüglichen musikalischen Bezüge können am deutlichsten in den Präsentationen des Hauptthemas am Anfang und Ende des Satzes erkannt werden. Die bildliche Vorstellung einer vom Mond beleuchteten Veranda irgendwo in den Südstaaten war die Inspiration für 'Night Breeze'. Eine sanfte, warme Brise raschelt in den Bäumen und begleitet den Dialog Violine /Klarinette, unvermutet pausiert der Wind... und beginnt wieder. Die Anregung für 'Chromatic Train' war die Visualisierung einer von einer Dampflokomotive gezogenen Eisenbahngarnitur. Der Zug verlässt langsam den Bahnhof. Wir werden Zeugen einer lebhaften Konversation zweier Passagiere (Vl./Kl.) Harmonisch gesehen werden hier alle zwölf Töne der chromatischen Skala verwendet. Der Zug erhöht das Tempo... Study score of the Quintet for Trumpet and String Quartet. This work was commissioned by the University of Aberdeen Aberdeen City Council and the Cheltenham International Festival of Music. It was first performed on 25thFebruary 1999 by the Yggdrasil Quartet and John Wallace (trumpet). Duration c. 28 minutes. Scored for Trumpet in C Violin Viola Cello. Part 2 in C (Violin)-Flexible Praise has been designed with the sacred ensemble conductor in mind. Arranged by internationally known composers/arrangers these ten pieces will work well with every instrumental ensemble imaginable including quartets of mixed instruments praise bands full band or orchestra and brass band. Designed to be playable by an average grade 3 (strong middle school or average high school) player each arrangement includes optional descant (fifth part) keyboard (with chords included for guitar) percussion (mostly drum set) and electric bass parts. These parts enhance the overall sound of the arrangements but are not required for performance providing theconductor with unlimited ways to use the arrangements.

3-5 Octaves of Handbells Level 3-This “Andante” is taken from the violin concerto by Felix Mendelssohn. The piece begins simply but soon builds in emotional intensity. The handbell arranger accomplished this through added more bells and increasingthe dynamic. Bell changes will need some work as will sixteenth-note rhythms but all well work the effort of the finished work. 91 measures in length this arrangement is set in C Major.

Arrangements for string quartet of Romance for string orchestra, op 11 (1928), Elegy for violin and piano, op 22 (1940), and Prelude for string orchestra, op 25 (1940s). Romance (8 mins) was first performed in 2009 by the Finzi Quartet at London's Wigmore Hall, and has been recorded by them on Resonus Classics RES 10109. Elegy (9 mins) and Prelude (5 mins) were first performed in 2014 by the Marilla Quartet at Downe House School, Berkshire, UK.
