As the title suggests, this sonatine interprets musical elements of sport. With this in mind, Tcherepnine's Sonatine is a highly amusing, energetic and fun piece to play for saxophonists. Russian born composer Alexandre Tcherepnine (1899-1977), moved to Paris with his family in 1921 following the increasingly hostile political environment in Russia. During WWII, Tcherepnine's composing activities virtually stopped. However, just before doing so, he composed his Sonatine Sportive. The first movement interprets boxers, with pulsating quavers in the piano part representing a defense. Movement two suggests a rest that the two players take before the 'racing' third movement, written in the form of a canon. With such stimulating and imaginative creativity, Tcherepnine's Sonatine is a fun addition to the saxophonist's repertoire.

The Easy Concert Pieces series for alto saxophone and piano provide easy to intermediate pieces from the Renaissance to the modern era for music lessons, concert performances or private music-making. The volumes with accompanying CD add to the not very extensive repertoire of performance pieces for saxophone. They were carefully selected according to technical and musical requirements and arearranged in three volumes according to their level of difficulty. All pieces are included on the accompanying CD as demo and play-along versions (piano accompaniment). The piano part contained in the volume is very easy so that it can even be played by a pupil, e.g. at a music school concert. Volume 1 (ED 22553) contains easy pieces which mainly range from d' to c'', occasionally even to d'''. The keys range from C to D major or the respective minor keys. This volume contains works by Charpentier, Vivaldi, Handel, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Smetana, Putz, Moser, and others. Volume 2 (ED 22554) contains intermediate pieces ranging from c' to e''', with unusual metres and demisemiquavers appearing occasionally. Including works by Wolkenstein, Peuerl, Schein, Purcell, Telemann, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Gounod, Humperdinck, Elgar, and others. This work was commissioned by the Osaka Kyoiku University Wind Orchestra. The world premiere took place with trumpet soloist, Osamu Kumashiro and was conducted by the composer, who was inspired by the famous Ponte Vecchio (the old bridge) during a visit to Florence. This work is a musical collage of impressions following the composers visit to Italy. The solo part can also be performed on trumpet or euphonium. De wereldpremière werd samen met trompetsolist Osamu Kumashiro uitgevoerd onder leiding van de componist, die zich tijdens een bezoek aan Firenze heeft laten inspireren door de beroemde Ponte Vecchio (oude brug). Het werk is een muzikale collage van indrukken die Yagisawa in Italië heeft opgedaan. De solopartij kan ook op trompet of euphonium worden gespeeld. Die Welturaufführung fand mit dem Trompeter Osamu Kumashiro als Solist und unter der Leitung des Komponisten statt. Das Werk ist eine musikalische Collage mit den Eindrücken des Komponisten von seiner Italienreise.
