As the title implies, this chart does not rest for a moment. It moves from one tempo to another, doubling up and then doubling in tempo again. Needless to say, Stop/Go is an exciting excursion into the very hip mind of Bill Holman. The chart requires soprano saxophone on the lead part. Holman's humor comes to the fore in this fascinating arrangement. 5-4-4-3.

This arrangement of I Hope In Time a Change Will Come came about through a desire to hear/play more than one chorus of this stunningly beautiful melody by Oliver Nelson. The basis for this new arrangement was Nelson's original chart, but this one is two choruses, not one. Part of the second chorus can be improvised. The soloist throughout is soprano saxophone (could be played on tenor saxophone or trumpet if you so desire). This is a slow, gorgeous ballad that will thrill your audiences. 5-4-4-3.

This is Hooper at his best ...... musical, clever and always very interesting. An exciting and different piece with a latin feel. Features alto sax. As recorded on the Look What They've Done LP. 5-4-4-3.

There are a few charts from this library which are very playable by any reasonably well developed jazz ensemble. This surely is one of the best! Holman created a beautifully layered piece, based on the Rhythm changes. This is one of the most popular charts in the entire Kenton Library. Solo space for alto, tenor, trombone and trumpet. Recorded on the Kenton Showcase LP in 1954. (This music is available from Mosaic Records in their Russo/Holman CD set.) 5-5-5-3.

A big time contemporary urban rock chart that really delivers the heat by L.A. film music writer Lenny Stack. The ranges aren't extreme, but the lead trumpet will need a good solid high C. Very cool!
