Par HAENDEL GEORG FRIEDRICH. Imeneo was premièred at Lincoln 's Inn Field in London on 22 November 1740 and given a second performance on 13 December of the same year. Unlike the varied events and convoluted action otherwise typical of opera seria , it has an uncomplicated plot line with a clear dramatic structure and excellent music. The arranger of the libretto is unknown. Handel wrote this opera for his final season in London , but he also revived it in Dublin on 24 and 31 March 1742 as a ' serenata ”. For this revival, presumably a concert performance, he altered the 1740 score. The alterations are listed in the appendix to the vocal score. This second volume of the songs of Scottish poet Robert Burns contains 70 songs excerpted from the chapter 'The Lasses' in a larger collection of 324 Burns songs compiled and researched by Serge Hovey. It includes songs expressing the poet's 'passion' for his wife Jean, and for 'that other species.' Robert Burns (1759-1796) spent his life collecting Scottish songs, using fragments of existing lyrics as the basis for his own poems, and wrote original lyrics for traditional melodies. Burns left for posterity about 270 poems and more than 300 songs which are usually printed without their tunes. Serge Hovey meticulously examined Burns' own sources, letters, and manuscripts to determine the origin of every tune and all the verses as well as Burns' intended match of words and music. He then arranged each song with highly imaginative and beautiful accompaniments geared for pianists with average skills. This volume is illustrated with reproductions of paintings, drawings, and prints. Par ROBIN YANN. Ce trio associe un cor anglais, une clarinette contrebasse et un trombone. Le projet a été de travailler avec des champs harmoniques composés d'échelles non octaviantes ainsi que d'explorer les possibilités timbriques engendrées par le chant, donc la résonance de la voix dans le corps même de l'instrument. Nous nous retrouvons donc face à un trio à 'six voix'. Il est tout d'abord très facile de chanter des unissons et de décaler légèrement la voix pour créer des battements de différentes vitesses. Il est ensuite relativement aisé de chanter une quinte redoublée à partir d'un son fondamental joué car celle-ci faisant partie du spectre des harmoniques naturels et étant le premier intervalle différencié entretient de forts rapports de résonances acoustiques avec ce son fondamental. Cette pièce n'a rien d'un travail spectral, elle utilise simplement certaines propriétés appartenant à la résonance naturelle d'un corps sonore. Un instrument grave telle la clarinette contrebasse, est d'une grande richesse en partiels, et certains de ces partiels sont facilement audibles donc ' chantables' par l'instrumentiste. Le mixage de la voix et du son de l'instrument procure une vaste palette de timbres tous plus intéressants les uns que les autres.
