A folk-infused ballad celebrating the miracle of Hanukkah. Originally recorded by 90s pop sensation Lisa Loeb, this reflective change-of-pace choral features a rhythmic yet mellow accompaniment and straightforward but expressive vocal parts. Whether you perform with the guitar-inspired piano part, the optional SoundTrax CD, or a folk ensemble of your own, this is truly a special touch for holiday concerts.Because of changes in our school's schedule and the taking away of the music requirement in 7th and 8th grade, our choir numbers have dropped significantly. Searching for music that has educational value and that the choir will sound good on (we know that's important for the parents and faculty) I came across Light arranged by Andy Beck. This quickly became a favorite of my choir! The kids are excited to rehearse it every day and the sound they are achieving fits the folk-like feel of the piece. We are using the 2-Part version. Being 7th and 8th graders, of my nine boys, three are unchanged voices (singing alto as written) and my other six are in varying stages of voice change. Those six are bouncing back and forth between alto and soprano parts, singing them down an octave. Thank you for providing a great piece for the holiday season!Matt AlbrechtChoir DirectorCopley-Fairlawn Middle School

Peace on earth. Has there ever been such a thing - will there ever be? Wars and rumors of wars are the mile markers of history. Wars seem to be the events by which history is recorded. Did you ever hear of World Peace I or World Peace II - or the years of Civil Peace? Did the Holy Scriptures really promise Peace On Earth? Did an angel from heaven really proclaim “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!” ? (Luke 2:14) The answer is...YES!Butwhatabout...? - Butwhatabout...? - Butwhatabout...?We could spend most of our lives filling in these blanks. However - if we take the cognizant, courageous leap of faith - if we choose to believe God's Word is true - then we must refine our understanding of peace. Jesus said - “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27Jesus knows about peace - He is indeed the Prince of Peace. How then can we define peace...? Peace is not the absence of conflict - Peace is the presence of God.God made His presence known in a spectacular, miraculous way long ago in the ancient city of Bethlehem. His presence remains just as real - just as powerful - just as loving. Thanks be to God for His tender mercy and all sufficient grace. May we be instruments used of God to live out and reach others with the good news. Glory to God in the highest! There Is Peace in the World Tonight.

The haunting words reach to us from antiquity.“The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, 'This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.' In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.' For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.” - I Corinthians 11:23-26Remember. Remember. As commanded, the Israelites have retold the story of the faithfulness of their God for centuries. They have recounted how the blood of the lamb protected them from the angel of death. The world is on the brink of eternal change now, because it is Jesus, the Christ who is saying remember. Remember the things I taught you, remember the trials and the triumphs, remember the promises and the prayers, remember the bread and the wine. God will reclaim His people and it will be forever inscribed on their hearts, sealed by the Master, in His own blood. Remember. Once you encounter the Master, how could you ever forget?
