Offertorium-Since the two verifiable autographs of the offertory Misericordias Domini have been lost for the present new critical edition Robert Münster was able to rely for the first time on the manuscript parts from the music of the Court of Munich which he discovered. These can be traced back to the material used for the first performance of the work in Munich in 1775 and hence they can also be traced back to the Munich autograph.

The Missa Brevis in C is distinguished from the other 'solemn masses' - most of which were also in C at this time - by the organ solo in its Benedictus movement. The work itself is for mixed chorus with organ or piano accompaniment. This is the Schirmer edition edited by H.C. Robbins Landon.
