Asking those who have much to consider those who do not is an important and popular theme today. To realize that this song was first published in 1854 makes the plea even more poignant. The optional violin obligato adds a longing voice to this socially conscious message.

A genre-defying collection of songs for female vocal trio, Songspin Songbook is a collaboration between Juice Vocal Ensemble and UYMP, funded by an Arts Council England grant. Described as “the 21st century’s answer to the Swingles or King’s Singers” (The Times), Juice have emerged as the face of a revitalised experimental scene for vocal music. Songspin Songbook publishes songs from their debut album, Songspin. The album was released on Nonclassical in 2011 to critical acclaim, winning an international Independent Music Award for Best Contemporary Classical Album in 2012. Featuring remixes by the likes of Camille producer MaJiker and Björkcollaborator Mikhail Karikis, the album was reviewed by The Observer as “eighteen immaculately achieved tracks, spanning Elisabeth Lutyens to Gabriel Prokofiev via folk song and avant garde, enchant and enthrall”. Songspin also featured the premiere recording of Elisabeth Lutyens' Of The Snow, which The Telegraph described of a performance by Juice as an amazing sustained piece of virtuosity. Songspin Songbook was edited by James Whittle and Paul Sild. Artwork designed by Christopher Leedham and Martin Scheuregger.

About Jónas HalgrÃÂmsson (1807-1845) was an Icelandic poet, author and naturalist, who is considered one of Iceland's most renowned poets. Considered a Romantic writer, the strong imagery in his poetry was influenced heavily by the landscapes around him.The imagery, excitement, and curiosity of the universe leapt off the page and the music almost wrote itself. Reflecting on the cosmos and origin of the heavens, the poetry elicits excitement and stirs spatial imagery - ...speeding spark of light, ...wings swifter than wind..., ...I watched the stars...rise from the still stream of heaven... The pure and almost child-like fascination with the universe and its expansion and progression fuels the perpetual rhythm of the work as it continually pushes forward.A good friend asked if I would write a song for her ensemble. The original voicing, for SAB choir, contained parameters in that it had to be three-part with a limited range in the Bass part. With these stipulations I began to write. I searched for something that would be exciting for them and landed on Jonas Halgrimsson’s writings. I believe it is equally as exciting, accessible and challenging for treble choirs.Note to the DirectorTruly consider how the work can come to ‘life’ off the page. Rise and fall with phrase and sometimes each note. The magic exists beyond the ink on the page!Consideration to range, tessitura, and content was all considered as part of this process in creating music that is accessible to all programs and ensembles.Accompaniment NoteThe accompaniment can look intimidating, but please feel free to alter the pulsing eighth notes in the left hand with the eighth notes in the right-hand so it creates a compound rhythm. So long as the momentum of the work is pressed onward, you are doing this work justice.About Jónas HalgrÃÂmsson (1807-1845) was an Icelandic poet, author and naturalist, who is considered one of Iceland's most renowned poets. Silberklang im Kirchenjahr for mixed choir (SAB and piano ad lib.) is THE collection of sacred choral music for senior citizens' choirs and older church choirs. Singing is a great hobby for many people, not only in terms of music, but also in terms of socializing in the choir. As the singers grow older, singing in extreme registers becomes especially difficult. That is why the arrangements of hymns and psalm settings, which are guaranteed to give your choir a lot of pleasure, are kept in a comfortable singable range (soprano to E2, alto to C2, men not deeper than G). As most choirs consist of more female than male singers, the arrangements are written in three-part form. Last but not least, the choral score, in extra-large print and with a clear layout, in combination with the pleasant tonal range will ensure that the senior citizens' choir can shine into old age. The continuous piano accompaniment supports the choir, providing a sense of security. With Silberklang, (church) choirs are able to still perform polyphonic works, even in their long-time formations.
