J. Daniel Smith brings dramatic strength to this cinematic portrayal of Integrity Music’s new anthem, Ashes, from worship artist Dara Maclean. Perfect for churches with dynamic, big-sounding choir and orchestra, this compelling arrangement rises to a soaring musicality while bursting forth a mighty lyric of Jesus’ mighty act; conquering the grave, He rose from the ashes, His victory now our destiny.

The sense of rare and beautiful magic encountered in the early verse of Yeats is perfectly captured in this setting of 'He wishes for the cloths of heaven' which, like the no less evocative texts selected by Warlock for The Curlew, is among the outstanding items from the early collection The Wind Among the Reeds. To the rich symbolism of the poet's work, smoothly euphonious and finely balanced choral harmonies add their own 'golden and silver light', making in words and music a sonorous image of the profound vision, part romance, part mystery, at the heart of this unique poem.

The piece was commissioned by Kevin Scully, Director of Creative Arts, for the Port Washington School District, New York, with special thanks to the Ed Foundation and HEARTS for their unwavering support. Performance Notes This lighthearted piece is a great way to bring multiple choirs together in harmony. It may be sung by a single SATB choir, though it is intended to be performed by multiple choirs of varying age levels. Song of the Sound was written for an all-district feeder festival piece for combined elementary, middle level, and high school choirs. Here is a suggested outline for combining multiple choirs: Rehearsal Letters A to B: Elementary choir only (two-part, Soprano, Alto) Rehearsal Letter B: add Middle Level Soprano, Alto with Elementary choir Rehearsal Letter C: Middle Level choir only Rehearsal Letter D: High School choir only Rehearsal Letter E to the end: Everyone! Song of the Sound: Running on the beach, digging in the sand, Seaweed in my toes, bucket in my hand. When I'm at the shore, way above the rest, These are all the things that I love the best. Skipping like a stone on the water, diving deep in the silvery foam, Swimming far where the land cannot hold us, where the lighthouse calls us home. Flying free above the marshes, soaring high above the sea, Where the tern and cormorant and plover call to lands we cannot see.Come let us go to the water, let us go to the singing shore: Where the gentle breezes whisper and the mighty breakers roar. We will look to the shining ocean, to the East, where the new day dawned: We will sing a song of the edge of the world and the waiting sky beyond. -Poem by Robert Bode (Hope Springs Retreat Center, Ohio. What has made this Mass rise to the top in popularity in parishes across the English-speaking world? Its adaptability. From parishes with keyboard and/or guitar and cantor to cathedrals with a large SATB choir and multiple instruments (organ, brass quartet, timpani, handbells), Mass of Wisdom has proven itself as a “Mass for the masses.†Its step-wise melodic patterns make it easy to learn without sounding musically trite in any way. Music directors agree that the through-composed Gloria is one of the most finely crafted of all the new musical settings of the prayer. That fine crafting extends to all components of this Mass, especially the acclamations sung during the Eucharistic Prayer. The multi-layered Hosannas in the Sanctus will delight the members of the choir as well as the singing assembly. This is a Mass setting that simply soars. It is a perfect setting for Ordinary Time, but music directors tell us that the Christmas and Easter seasons are made more glorious and joyful when this setting is sung, especially when the additional instrumentation is added. Dioceses and parishes that employed Mass of Wisdom as the first setting during the implementation of the new translation have found themselves returning to it time and time again. It truly has become part of the “Catholic musical DNA†across the United States and beyond.

“Tek Kapidan†is a Turkish folk song in which the choir shares a young girl's musings about her boyfriend, who was killed in an accident. She reminisces about their past times together and wishes for the old days when they were together. She says how much more important being with him was than the material things in life. Sopranos and altos alternate solo sections with the tenors and basses in this arrangement.

Fragile and precious, this sacred tone poem is a prayer for peace and a plea for healing of the heart. The soundscape of the anthem rises from a single tone, opening to reveal glimmering splashes of choral color. As the words become more impassioned, the octavo surrenders to a flowing piano episode that matches its intensity. This petition for calm begins to quiet as the anthem winds down, allowing the prayer to end in hushed chords of assurance. Score and Parts (vn, vc) available as a digital download.

WATCHNIGHT is, in many ways, a traditional Christmas Eve service, with all of the moments that have defined similar services over the years; quiet music, children reading the Christmas Story, candlelight and communion. But this musical worship time is a quiet celebration of waiting, a rekindling of the child's soul in all of us, a reminder that the mystery and magic of God's plan for Christmas Day is still alive...if we will see it again through the eyes of a child. Walk through WATCHNIGHT with an open heart, let your childlike soul be “led home†through the singing of carols, and the hearing of the Christmas Story, enacted by children. Share the Lord's Supper and the lighting of candles to welcome the Child. Know that the Child of Bethlehem wishes to have the child of your soul holding His hand. Tiny Babe of Bethlehem Won't you take my hand again; Wake the child that has my name, So I will never be the same.

The Peasant Cantata was written and performed in 1742 as an act of homage to Carl Heinrich Von Dieskau on his becoming 'Lord Of Thee Manor'. The libretto, supplied by Picander, deals with the rejoicing of villagers and their congratulations and good wishes to the new laird and his wife. Many folk melodies are introduced, and most of the numbers are based on merry country dance tunes.
