Carus Verlag #CV 31.195/09. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3119509). ISBN 9790007210373. Language: German/English. The Hochzeitskantate (Wedding Cantata) BWV 195 was performed by Bach from around 1730 at various wedding celebrations in different forms, and was evidently also lent out for performances further afield. The only surviving version of the work dates from the last years of Bach's life. The opulently-scored first part begins and ends with grand choral movements, and Bach scored both parts for soloists and for chorus. At the centre of the cantata is an exceptionally sensitive bass aria, probably one of Bach's most modern vocal compositions of all. A chorale movement (Nun danket all and bringet Ehr/ Now thank we all and offer praise) with obbligato horns concludes the cantata as the second part after the consummation. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas. Choral Score. BWV 197. 8 pages. Duration 20 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.197/55. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3119755). ISBN 9790007186708. Language: German/English. Gott ist unsre Zuversicht BWV 197 was probably written in the second half of the 1730s for a wedding, no further details of which are known. In the opening chorus in particular, it features quite a sizeable orchestra. The text of the cantata has one major theme - trust in God! In a magnificent lullaby (movement 3) all cares are sung to sleep. The other arias, with their exceptionally exquisite combinations of scorings, make the cantata into a quite special work, albeit one which is associated with a particular occasion. The wedding cantata BWV 197 draws on older material for some of its movements. Two movements are parodies on arias from the incomplete surviving Christmas cantata Ehre sei Gott in der Hohe, BWV 197a, including the lullaby O du angenehmes Paar, of which only the last quarter survives from the Christmas cantata - it is O du angenehmer Schatz there. By using the later version, Diethard Hellmann has been able to reconstruct the original version of this dreamlike beautiful movement; however, the complete Christmas cantata cannot be reconstructed from the sources. Score available separately - see item CA.3119700. $5.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

The 300 cantatas by this exceptionally productive composer were long unknown, and were only rediscovered by chance in 1910. The Christmas cantata Daran ist erschienen die Liebe Gottes comprises five movements, beginning with an opening chorus, followed by alternate arias and recitatives. A simple four-part chorale concludes the work. Stuttgart Urtext Edition. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Christmas. Full score. 16 pages. Duration 6 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 10.018/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.1001800). ISBN 9790007142643. Text language: German. Johann Wendelin Glaser was born in 1731 in Ostheim vor der Rhon, Bavaria. In 1751 he became music director in Wertheim, a position he held until his death in 1783. The cantata is easy-to-perform for choral singers and also because of its small instrumental scoring for just two flutes (or other melody instruments) and basso continuo. $17.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

SATB choir, organ - Beginning SKU: MN.CH-1340 Composed by Dale Jergenson....(+)
SATB choir, organ - Beginning SKU: MN.CH-1340 Composed by Dale Jergenson. 21st Century. Octavo. Laurendale Associates #CH-1340. Published by Laurendale Associates (MN.CH-1340). The Cherubic Hymn is the primary cherubikon, or song of the angels, sung during every Divine Liturgy of the year except those of Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday. It occurs after the Gospel reading and is interrupted by the Great Entrance. During the period of the fourth to sixth centuries, the shape of the Eastern Divine Liturgy reached its fi nal form under the gidance of liturgists such as St. John Chrysostom. In this same period the major formative changes occurred, most of which resulted in liturgical components that corresponded to the Church's developing theological understanding. Among them were the hymn Only-Begotten Son and the addition of the Nicean-Constantinopolitan Creed (countering heresies), and The Trisagion Hymn refl ecting the Trinitarian theology being currently defi ned. In this period and on through the ninth century, hymns were composed and added to the Divine Liturgy, such as the Cherubic Hymn, sung while the priest recited the prayer that is now called The Prayer of the Cherubic Hymn. $2.20 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Edited by Dieter Schickling. Complete orchestral parts. Sacred vocal music, Motets. Set of Orchestra Parts. SC. Duration 15 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 27.403/19. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2740319). ISBN 9790007133900. Language: Latin. Puccini's first known sacred work was composed during his school days at the Istituto Pacini in Lucca. It was first performed there in 1877. The text was a hymn to the Patron Saint of Lucca which was probably written by the composer himself. The work was so popular that by 1880 it had received three further performances, though it was also inserted in the Messa a 4 voci, after the Credo. Thereafter it disappeared from the music world and was only first rediscovered in the 1990s. Since, with the exception of the lack of a solo tenor in the piece, it is identical with this one in the Messa, for this reason it would seem only natural to perform these two works together.
