Sing, Choirs! is a library in miniature. It contains many of the Christian church's popular traditional anthems, including at least one example that will be suitable for each of the major services of the year. A number of Anglican chants (Psalms, Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis) are included, set out in a way that should enable those who are unfamiliar with the style to perform them easily. The selection of movements from the Mass can be used to enrich the music of the liturgy in services. Many of the works in Sing, Choirs! are presented in their original form, such as Bruckner's Locus Iste and Mozart's Laudate Dominum . Others are arrangements, adaptations or longer pieces, abridged to bring them into the scope of a useable anthem, including choral arrangements of Handel's Largo , the Ave Marias by Schubert and by Bach and Gounod, and Franck's Panis Angelicus amongst many others. This collection has practicability as a priority. The Organ parts can be played on either the Piano or the Keyboard. Coronation Anthem for Mixed Choir and Orchestra-Zadok The Priest HWV 258 (BA10258) and The King Shall Rejoice HWV 260 (BA10259) are the best-known of the four coronation anthems that Handel wrote for the crowning of George II in London (1727). HWV 258 accompanied the king’s anointment HWV 260 his actual coronation. Thanks to their festive and majestic structure befitting the occasion as well as their spacious scoring for Large Choir and Orchestra it comes as no surprise that motifs from Zadok the priest have found their way into the official hymn of the UEFA Champions League. These four works with their orchestral accompaniments thus represent something akin to a new genre in English church music.The four anthems are presented in clearly laid out vocal scores with straightforward piano reductions based on the Urtext from the Halle Handel Edition. Let God Arise is one of the twelve anthems which Handel wrote for the Duke of Chandos in the period 1716-1718. This anthem was written for soprano and tenor soli SATB chorus and orchestra.This vocal score edited by Janet Beat includes a piano accompaniment.

Wilburg has chosen two very distinctive folk songs (the Power of Song from Estonia and We Shall Walk In The Valley Peace from the US) and combined them to express the idea of Bridges of Song for the worldwide Bridges of Song Music Festival in Estonia in July 1991.

Let Them Give Thanks Whom The Lord Has Redeemed is the final movements of a larger work entitled 'The Angel Of Mons' by composer Patrick Hawes dedicated to the memory of the British soldiers who Hawes believes witnessed an 'angel' during a battle in World War One. This is the Vocal Score and is arranged for SATB Chorus and Piano Accompaniment. This piece was premiered in the latter's own church on the centenary of the date the 'angel' sighting was said to have occurred. The inspiration comes from a mythical story around the Battle of Mons during World War One where a group of soldiers supposedly receiveddivine help from 'angels'. The story arose from a fictional short story by a writer that came to be known as fact despite the author's desperate pleas otherwise. The music itself is beautiful perfectly capturing the crisis of conscience and cognitive dissonance that the soldiers must have experienced being told that they were fighting for King and country yet at the same time being terrified of their own lives. 

John Purifoy has crafted an exquisite anthem based on Isaiah 11:1-9. John's dedication of this work to grandsons Jacob and Luke give it an extra special touch. Duration: ca. 4:30.

A two-volume collection of short anthems from the Novello Choral Programme representing five hundred years of church music all suitable for SATB chorus with Organ.Familiar and long-established works are represented alongside many lesser-known and more recent works by composers such as Douglas Guest Philip Rose and Ralph Allwood. Many of the pieces are ideal as Introits and Anthems for general church use whilst other have a more specific intended function within the liturgical calendar. However all are well suited to both devotional and concert performance.The works here are short ranging from straight-forward to technically challenging and more exciting.
