Choral SATB Choir and Piano SKU: CF.CM9740 Composed by Mark Burrows. 16 p...(+)
Choral SATB Choir and Piano SKU: CF.CM9740 Composed by Mark Burrows. 16 pages. Duration 4 minutes, 22 seconds. Carl Fischer Music #CM9740. Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.CM9740). ISBN 9781491161203. UPC: 680160919789. Key: Bb major. English. Siegfried Sasson. Everyone suddenly burst out singing; And I was filled with such delight As prisoned birds must find in freedom... These opening lines to Everyone Sang by the British war poet Siegfried Sassoon feel as relevant today as they did when the poem was first published in 1919. It was after the end of World War I and these words capture so much of the collective exhilaration, relief, and pure joy about the Great War finally coming to an end. And yet Sassoon himself felt none of that when he wrote this poem. In his own words, he was feeling dull-minded and depressed. Perhaps his time in the trenches was still too recent. One of the reasons the creative arts are so powerful is that a poet like Sassoon (or a painter like Van Gogh or a composer like Mahler) can take their own feelings of deep sadness or pain and transform them into something beautiful, even uplifting. Everyone Sang is a celebration of the promise that things can get better, that there are things worth looking forward to. The poem itself has so much rhythm and musicality. The appearance of suddenly in the first line of each verse gives those verses a rush of energy. Attention to the crescendo in measure 7, and again in measure 37, from mf to f will help the listener experience that rush. There are expressive opportunities with so many of the poet's bold choices of action words - burst, winging, and shaken. Then there's alliteration - a poetic device that can be overdone, but Sassoon strikes a wonderful balance. Suddenly/singing (measures 6-7 and 10-11) Find/freedom (measure 21-22) Winging/wildly (measure 23) Setting/sun (measures 47-49) Was/wordless (measures 65-75) Give these alliterations just a hint of emphasis (without overdoing) to bring out the natural rhythm of the text. And just as O is set apart in the poem by punctuation, I wanted the musical setting - in measure 57 - to honor that feeling of wonder - ...O, but Everyone Was a bird; and the song was wordless; the singing will Never be done. Friends, there is so much good ahead, so much to be excited about. May the singing never be done. Everyone suddenly burst out singingAnd I was filled with such delightAs prisoned birds must find in freedom…These opening lines to Everyone Sang by the British war poet Siegfried Sassoon feel as relevant today as they did when the poem was first published in 1919. | Aimons-nous Choral SATB SATB, Piano [Score] - Easy Carus Verlag
SATB Choir, Piano - Level 2 SKU: CA.926000 Composed by Charles Francois G...(+)
SATB Choir, Piano - Level 2 SKU: CA.926000 Composed by Charles Francois Gounod. Arranged by Denis Rouger. Separate edition to the CD. Lieder, Secular choral music. Full Score. Composed 1870. CG 449. Duration 3 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 09.260/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.926000). ISBN 9790007249229. Key: F major. Language: French. Text: Barbier, Jules. The three verses of Aimons-nous, separated by piano interludes, are cheerful and amorous, an invitation to everlasting mutual love. The text portrays this almost as a law of nature: rivers and streams combine, the sun embraces the earth, and the birds snuggle close to each other in their nest. Light, rippling syncopations in the piano accompany Gounod's typical catchy melodic writing in the vocal parts. The writer Jules Barbier was Gounod's favored opera librettist (Faust, Romeo et Juliette), but many other 19th century opera composers also set his texts, including Camille Saint-Saens, Giacomo Meyerbeer, and Jacques Offenbach. This art song was originally composed not for chamber choir, but for solo voice and piano. Denis Rouger has carefully adapted it to suit the requirements and expressive possibilities offered by a larger ensemble, without losing the any of the qualities of the original in the process. Each part in the choir has a melodic line drawn from the harmonic and rhythmic framework. In the process, the variety and refinement of the choral language combines with an enormous flexibility in form and expression, as French melodies or German art song demand from a soloist and pianist. The songs have been recorded by the figure humaine chamber choir on the CD Kennst du das Land ... (Carus 83.495). $5.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Carol Arrangement; Christmas; Multicultural; Sacred; Traditional; World. Choral Octavo. 12 pages. Alfred Music #00-48897. Published by Alfred Music (AP.48897). UPC: 038081562216. English. Traditional Spanish Carol. Victor's arrangement of this gentle nativity carol from Spain is sung entirely in the original language (a pronunciation and translation are included). This sensitive treatment captures the lullaby mood and adds a light rhythmic undercurrent in moderate 3/4 time. The tonality shifts seamlessly between D minor and D major to reflect a text that moves from quieting the baby to a rushing fountain and singing birds. While the words do return, no two verses are set in the same manner, creating an ever-evolving arrangement. Piano fingers dance over the keys with triplet turns and easily grasp the bigger chords in the supportive and stylistic accompaniment. A nice contrast on holiday programs. $2.05 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

SATB Choir (Mixed choir (SATB)) - Level 3 SKU: BA.BA08521 Composed by Marten Jansson. Stapled. Choral score. 14 pages. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA08521_00. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA08521). ISBN 9790006563203. 27 x 19 cm inches. Key: E-flat minor. Text Language: Latin. The “Missa brevis in E flat minor†for mixed choir a cappella has been composed in the tradition of the short Mass (without Credo) and can be easily managed by most choirs. Thanks to its conciseness, it is suitable for use in church services, while its delightful harmonic layout and consciously simple melodies (with clear allusions to folk music) also make it perfect for concert performance.
“My music is my own and I have never tried to be original. That has always been my motto and I have only tried to use music to express all the feelings which life has to offer. This has led people to describe my music as ‘so sad that it sounds like birds who have lost their wings’ but also as ‘the happiest classical music that we have ever heard‘. My compositions are almost all sacred. They express not only my own faith but also my appreciation and respect for the timeless texts that have been used for centuries and centuries.“
MÃ¥rten Jansson (b. 1965), elected member of the Föreningen svenska tonsättare (the Society of Swedish Composers), graduated from the Royal College of Music, Stockholm (KHM) with an MFA degree in Music Education, Dalcroze Eurhythmics and Voice. For more than ten years he was the music director and conductor of “Carmenâ€, one of the most prominent womens’ vocal ensembles in Sweden. He currently teaches choral conducting and music theory as well as giving vocal tuition at the Bolandgymnasiet and Musikskolan in his home town of Uppsala.
Please find a recording of the “Missa brevis†performed by the Ensemble Sonoro, Neil Ferris (Conductor) by clicking on Multimedia.
