SATB choir divisi (a cappella) - Late Intermediate SKU: MN.CH-1296 Compos...(+)
SATB choir divisi (a cappella) - Late Intermediate SKU: MN.CH-1296 Composed by Andrew Bonacci. Catholic Year A Immaculate Conception. 21st Century. Choral score. Laurendale Associates #CH-1296. Published by Laurendale Associates (MN.CH-1296). UPC: 765844005764. Ave Maria was composed for the University of Kansas Choirs, and dedicated with appreciation to Simon Carrington (Kings Singers). It was premiered by the Oread Consort at Edington Priori Church in Wiltshire, England in May of 1997. The Gregg Smith Singers brought new life to this work at the 2000 Adirondack Festival of American Music in Saranac Lake, and followed with a recording on the Living Artist series. This piece was inspired by Gyorgy Ligeti's setting of Lux Aeterna (1966), as well as by Giuseppe Verdi's Ave Maria, the scala enigmatica armonizzata a Quattro voci (1898). It is shaped by a series of breath-like harmonic swells leading to climactic homophonic statements of the text, with strident voice pairings yearning for resolution. New York writer Watson Bosler describes the work as an iridescent wash of color as an intricate web of interrelated melodic and rhythmic themesThis Ave hymns not the sugar-water Virgin of Gounod or Scott, but rather the powerful Goddess Yeats depicts: The Roman Empire stood appalled:/ It dropped the reins of peace and war/ When that fierce virgin and her Star/ Out of the fabulous darkness called. $4.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

SATB choir (div) SKU: CA.965900 Composed by Giacomo Mezzalira. Edited by ...(+)
SATB choir (div) SKU: CA.965900 Composed by Giacomo Mezzalira. Edited by Stefan Schuck. Contemporary Choir Music. Sacred vocal music, Feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Hymns in praise of the Virgin Mary. Full score. 8 pages. Duration 8 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 09.659/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.965900). ISBN 9790007165901. Text language: Latin. Mezzalira places his worked entirely in the tradition of Catholic church music: Gregorian elements are associated likewise with Palestrina's counterpoint and Bruckner's sonorous expansin. Thoroughly in the tradition of the motet, the Memorare is structured in four sections, each in accordance with their respective texts. This large structured composition begins in C minor from the depths of the men's voices, building to a song of lamentation which increases to an harmonically enriched E flat major passage on the words virgo maria. In the second section, harmonically in A flat major, Mezzalira places the upper and lower voices in a double choir opposed to each other in block-like manner in order to develop resonating cantilenas in the third part, which is in F major. After a very simple, tender four-part setting of a hymn the composition ends with an Amen with large modally enriched chords in D major. $6.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

ATB vocal soli, SATB choir, recorder, violin solo, violin, 2 viola, cello, basso continuo - Level 3 SKU: CA.3118219 Cantata for Palm Sunday or for the feast of the Annunciation. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Edited by Reinhold Kubik. Arranged by Paul Horn. German title: Himmelskonig, Sei Willkommen A-Dur. Sacred vocal music, Cantatas, Lent and Passiontide, Holy Week, Feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Hymns in praise of the Virgin Mary. Set of Orchestra Parts. Composed 1714. BWV 182. Duration 30 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 31.182/19. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.3118219). ISBN 9790007136949. Key: A major. Language: German/English. Text: Franck, Salomo. Text: Salomo Franck. Version in A major (version in G major: Carus 31.182/50) The cantata Himmelskonig, sei willkommen BWV 182 holds a special place in Johann Sebastian Bach's biography. He had been employed as organist and chamber musician at the court of Weimar since 1708; on 2 March 1714, he was appointed concert master of the court, and his inauguration music for this occasion was Himmelskonig, sei willkommen. The cantata was first performed on Palm Sunday of that year, 25 March 1714. Bach performed this cantata several times - always revising and amending it - both in Weimar and in Leipzig. Of the altogether four versions, the first Leipzig version has been selected for the present new edition. Unlike the Weimar versions, it can be realized effectively using modern performance means. In his debut composition of 1714, the newly appointed concert master demonstrated his abilities: the eight movements contain a multitude of beautiful and rewarding challenges for choir and vocal soloists alike, and in addition there is the unusual attraction of a virtuoso solo part for the recorder. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.3118200. $84.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Sacred vocal music, Lent and Passiontide, Feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Hymns in praise of the Virgin Mary. Choral Score. Composed 1767. Hob. XXbis. 16 pages. Duration 60 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 51.991/05. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5199105). ISBN 9790007186296. Language: Latin. Joseph Haydn's Stabat Mater, written in 1767, was the first church work the composer wrote after entering the service of Prince Esterhazy in Eisenstadt. Unlike almost all his other sacred works, it soon circulated in numerous copies and established Haydn's reputation as the leading vocal composer of his day. This edition is based on three original copies of parts, which are regarded as being particularly close to the (missing) autograph manuscript because of the date they were made and the reliable transmission of the music text. As so, this great, moving setting of the Stabat Mater is now newly available in a modern, scholarly edition. The complete performance material is available on sale. Contemporary criticism saw in Rheinberger's Stabat Mater op. 16 from 1864 one of the most beautiful works of this type which the present time has to offer. Distinguished through its breadth of conception and its noble tonal effect, with its rich polyphony it reaches the masterpieces of the old Italian school. In the expressive choral movements rich-sounding homophonic passages are combined with sections worked out in strict polyphony. The sustained songlike solo pieces are of a profound expression.
