Unlike the well-known settings of the Seven Last Words by Schutz or Haydn, in his opulently scored composition Franck provides commentary to the words of Jesus with excerpts from the Old and New Testaments as well as from portions of the Stabat Mater. In his transposition of the Latin text into music Franck reveals a rich palette of compositional parameters: different-sized ensembles, exciting orchestration, formal variety and sophisticated harmony. Laments, simple passages for the choir in unison, passages with great drama, melodic shapes filled with sweetness convey to the listener a multi-layered impression of a composition stamped by a strongly personal will to expression. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5505309). ISBN 9790007226565. Text language: English/German. Saul, published for the first time in the version conducted by Handel himself. Saul is one of the most dramatic of Handel's oratorios. To a greater extent than almost any other oratorio it reveals with its gripping dramatic power its proximity to opera of its time. The score demands what was at the time Handel's most varied orchestra. The normal opera orchestra of the day was augmented by trombones, harp, solo organ, carillon (Glockenspiel) and large kettledrums. The choir functions for the first time as a central participant in dramatic action, while also undertaking commentating functions as in a Greek tragedy. This new edition makes use for the first time of musical material revealed by the latest Handel research, based as its most important source on the conducting score from which Handel himself directed his performances. Only this research has shown which arias, choruses, recitatives and instrumental pieces, after he had made numerous corrections in his autograph, Handel chose for his performances, and in what order they were given. The result has produced, apart from many changes of details (e.g. autograph instructions concerning the use of the organ), uncommon ordering of individual pieces, and passages with altered notes. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.2705505). ISBN 9790007041694. Language: German. Since its first complete performance in 1868 in the Cathedral of Bremen, Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem is, without question, one of the key works in the history of the oratorio. The reputation of the work is based not only on its unusually concentrated musical structure, but also on the original conception of the text: Brahms assembled important passages from both the Old and New Testaments in Luther's translation so that thoughts on sorrow and consolation would obviously refer to one another. In contrast to many other oratorios of the 19th century Brahms places the choir, the voice of the community, in the center of this interdenominational celebration of the dead. Orchestra SATB vocal soli, SSATB choir, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 bassoons, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, timpani, 2 violins, viola, harp, bells, organ, basso continuo SKU: CA.5505300 Oratorio. Composed by George Frideric Handel. Edited by Felix Loy. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Handel. Saul Hwv 53 Kartoniert. Sacred vocal music, Oratorios. Full score. Composed 1739. HWV 53. Duration 165 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 55.053/00. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5505300). ISBN 9790007167639. $166.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |

Carus Verlag #CV 50.314/09. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.5031409). ISBN 9790007223779. Key: C major. Language: Latin. Haydn's Missa Sancti Joannis Nepomuceni, dated 21 May 1772, is dedicated to the Bohemian martyr and patron Saint of bridges, Johannes Nepomuk (ca. 1340-1393, canonized in 1729). Despite the addition of woodwinds and brass to the three-part string section, the Mass is in a comparatively simple, compact form as was expressly required by Count Hieronymus Colloredo, Haydn's second employer in Salzburg. Even in the final sections of the Gloria and Credo Haydn forgoes not only vocal virtuosity, but also the polyphonic artifices which traditionally characterize these passages in the Mass. Like the Missa Sancti Amandi (1776), the Nepomuk Mass does not employ vocal soloists. Edited by Bernhard Paul. This edition: urtext. Stuttgart Urtext Edition: Stuttgart Schubert Edition. Messe In G-Dur (Klosterneuburg). Innovative practice aids, Sacred vocal music, Masses, Latin. Single Part, Cello/Double Bass. Composed 1696. D 167. 8 pages. Duration 25 minutes. Carus Verlag #CV 40.675/64. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.4067564). ISBN 9790007220075. Key: G major. Language: Latin. Franz Schubert's Mass in G major is one of the most popular settings of the mass ordinary: the charming song-like melodic writing, especially in the Kyrie and the Credo, forms a magical counterpoint to more concertante passages in the Gloria and the Sanctus. For a long time it was thought that Schubert's final version was scored for purely string orchestra, whilst a version with wind, brass, and timpani was thought to be an expanded orchestration by his brother Ferdinand Schubert. However, since the mid-1990s it has been known that the parts for trumpets and timpani were additionally composed by Franz Schubert himself for use ad libitum. The present edition offers this Klosterneuburg Version - with trumpets and timpani ad libitum, but without Ferdinand's wind parts - in an Urtext edition reflecting Schubert's own intended orchestration. | Come thou of man the Saviour TWV 1:1174 Choral SATB [Score] - Intermediate Barenreiter
Singing voice, SATB choir, orchestra (Vocal, Mixed choir, Orchestra) - Level 3 <...(+)
Singing voice, SATB choir, orchestra (Vocal, Mixed choir, Orchestra) - Level 3 SKU: BA.BA07677 Cantata for the First Sunday of Advent. Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann. Edited by Ute Poetzsch. This edition: urtext edition. Stapled. Barenreiter Urtext. Score. TWV 1. Baerenreiter Verlag #BA07677_00. Published by Baerenreiter Verlag (BA.BA07677). ISBN 9790006526192. 30 x 23 cm inches. The cantata Nun komm der Heiden Heiland (TWV 1:1174) is taken from Telemann’s cantata cycle of 1717–18. Though festively scored for two oboes, two trumpets, kettledrums, strings and basso continuo, it will not overly strain the financial resources of today’s ensembles.
The well-known chorale tune features prominantly in all choruses. Telemann gives one aria each to the three soloists (SAB). Thanks to the relatively small instrumental ensemble, the choral passages can be taken one to a part. The vocal score appears with a singing translation in English.
