The piece was commissioned by Kevin Scully, Director of Creative Arts, for the Port Washington School District, New York, with special thanks to the Ed Foundation and HEARTS for their unwavering support. Performance Notes This lighthearted piece is a great way to bring multiple choirs together in harmony. It may be sung by a single SATB choir, though it is intended to be performed by multiple choirs of varying age levels. Song of the Sound was written for an all-district feeder festival piece for combined elementary, middle level, and high school choirs. Here is a suggested outline for combining multiple choirs: Rehearsal Letters A to B: Elementary choir only (two-part, Soprano, Alto) Rehearsal Letter B: add Middle Level Soprano, Alto with Elementary choir Rehearsal Letter C: Middle Level choir only Rehearsal Letter D: High School choir only Rehearsal Letter E to the end: Everyone! Song of the Sound: Running on the beach, digging in the sand, Seaweed in my toes, bucket in my hand. When I'm at the shore, way above the rest, These are all the things that I love the best. Skipping like a stone on the water, diving deep in the silvery foam, Swimming far where the land cannot hold us, where the lighthouse calls us home. Flying free above the marshes, soaring high above the sea, Where the tern and cormorant and plover call to lands we cannot see.Come let us go to the water, let us go to the singing shore: Where the gentle breezes whisper and the mighty breakers roar. We will look to the shining ocean, to the East, where the new day dawned: We will sing a song of the edge of the world and the waiting sky beyond. -Poem by Robert Bode (Hope Springs Retreat Center, Ohio. | Choral collection Bruckner. Secular choral music Choral SATB SATB, Piano Carus Verlag
SATB chorus, piano SKU: CA.402600 Composed by Anton Bruckner. Edited by S...(+)
SATB chorus, piano SKU: CA.402600 Composed by Anton Bruckner. Edited by Simon Halsey, Jan Schumacher. Gattungen vokal: Secular choral music. Choral collection. Carus Verlag #402600. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.402600). ISBN 9790007294045. German. At times Romantic, at other times with a jazzy touch, the Choral collection Bruckner. Secular choral music is full of exciting discoveries and new arrangements at various levels of difficulty. Anton Bruckner’s secular choral music is often overshadowed by his great symphonies and sacred choral works – unfairly, as choral experts Simon Halsey and Jan Schumacher prove with their small but fine selection of choral music inspired by secular texts. Bruckner left only a few movements for mixed choir; instead, his music for male voices constitutes a far larger body of work. For this collection, renowned arrangers from Germany, England, Denmark, and Italy have specially reworked the most beautiful of these choral movements for SATB, enabling this great repertoire to be performed by mixed choirs. Two original SATB compositions are also included. Furthermore, the choral collection features arrangements of songs originally written for solo voice and piano with texts by such poets as Heinrich Heine and Emanuel Geibel. Another highlight is an arrangement of the Adagio from Bruckner’s String Quintet WAB 112, which Heribert Breuer has created for choir to a text by Georg Trakl.- 16 SATB settings, several with keyboard accompaniment- Selected by Simon Halsey and Jan Schumacher- Modern SATB arrangements of male-voice works and solo songs, as well as original compositions - Affordable complete volume (editionCHOR) as well as separate editions available in print and digitally.- Introductory price valid until 31.10.2023, then 27.00 EUR (editionCHORLEITUNG) and 15.00 EUR (editionCHOR, minimum order: 20 copies) $29.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks | | |

SATB choir, divisi, soprano voice solo, tenor voice solo, piano reduction - Intermediate SKU: GI.G-8815 Composed by Cortlandt Matthews. Ordinary Time 20 A. Evoking Sound. Music Education. Octavo. 8 pages. GIA Publications #8815. Published by GIA Publications (GI.G-8815). UPC: 785147881506. English, Latin. Text Source: Romans 11:29, Latin Vulgate. Scripture: Romans 11:29. I composed this setting in my last weeks of study at Westminster Choir College. The Latin text (Sine paenitentia enim sunt dona et vocatio Dei) translates roughly to “Truly, without regret are the gifts and callings of God.†This piece serves not only as an outward affirmation for all to embrace and use their God-given talents, but also as an inward mantra for myself, as I move into an uncertain period in my life after completing my undergraduate studies. Many of the colors and textures found within this piece were influenced by my experience singing with the Westminster Williamson Voices for two years. While the “sine paenitentia†text may allow shades of doubt to creep in, all uncertainty and fear is dispelled upon singing “sunt dona et vocatio Dei.†—Cortlandt Matthews Here is an amazing performance by The Westminster Williamson Voices at the Choral Insititute at Oxford. SATB (divisi) a cappella Choral (SATB divisi) SKU: HL.540125 Composed by Orlando Gibbons and Richard Burchard. Gentry Publications. Concert. Octavo. Gentry Publications #JG2599. Published by Gentry Publications (HL.540125). UPC: 196288075745. 6.75x10.5x0.036 inches. Gibbons first wrote the famous setting of his text in 1612. The clever poem shares when a swan's voice is heard and compares it to the state of human character. Burchard not only maintains the poem but a renaissance motet style colored in 21st century harmonies.
